People like to say that things aren't ever all that different now than some mysterious 'golden era' people recall back to.
however, I'm not quite middle aged yet and even in the recent past I can't think of anything holding a candle to the sense of entitlement this guy was able to put together off of Twitter alone, and no other social sites...
Here's more if you want to feel better about yourself:

Something tells me there's alot of sarcasm there. Some of its probably true though. I bet every older generation since the dawn of time has said the same thing about the younger generation.

I sure hope those are faked. Pretty disgusting if they aren't and a damn good thing they aren't my kids. Hell on earth would be happening right now if they lived in my house.
I have to admit, I didn't read the cited article, but I heard a least one if not more, GOP presidential candidates lamenting that the US is becoming "an entitlement nation". The thing I find ironic is that my grandparents, who are staunch republicans, will/have received more "entitlements" than I could ever hope to.
That's all I have add..I have no horses in this race and don't support any party or candidate.
thing is thought.. that is in no way a scientific sampling of america.. those are just the spoiled brats who are being squeaky wheels.
There are probably a thousand kids who were thankful for what they got for everyone of those that posted how much they hated their parents for not getting them an iPhone
In reply to HappyAndy:
not an article, but a collage of tweets of kids upset they didn't get what they wanted for xmas.
big deal, right?
every one is for an iphone or a car. -_-
Back when my grandparents were young they didn't tweet about not getting an iPhone.
They did send carrier pigeons out with a note bitching about not getting the latest set of Lincoln Logs though.

Ok so I was talking g about entitlement in the wrong sense. I will retract my comment and save it for the appropriate sense of entitlement discussion; I'm sure it won't be long.
In reply to mad_machine:
True, but the fact that there are any is pitiful.
I bet all of those were real.

I remember one Xmas. My cousin who shall remain nameless to protect....me, got a car. A truck specifically. Was given a loaded up Trailblazer. Never drove the thing once. Convinced Daddy to trade it for a loaded up TSX. Because the Chevy nameplate wasn't good enough. Her older sister is the same way. Was mad when she only got a prizm, was equally mad when the mustang and then the Solara were not convertibles, Got a Hummer H3 because it was trendy, still drove Mommy Escalade because she felt more important in it, and has some sort of something Lexus now IIRC. Even the Teen mom of the group got herself an RX330/whatever Lexus small SUV.... after managing to get preggers before she got a drivers license. Strangely, the LEAST greedy of em is the only boy, happy with a Saab. Balled up his Celica like 5 times, but... doesn't piss and moan about cars.
So, I believe every bit of those posts.

Talk about 1 Timothy 3:1-4. There is no way I could of ever talked about my parents like some of those kids, nor would I have wanted to. Sad really. I bet there are still decent youngins' out there though...I'm hoping.
I'm sure most entitlement is due to the pussification of America. Everyone is a winner, so no one wants to work for E36 M3.
As an observer of people's actions, I don't doubt for a moment that every one of those is real. That doesn't mean everyone is like that, not by a long shot. But man there's enough of them out there to make me despair of the future of humanity sometimes.
if my dad ever saw me use the terms "Berkeley" and "parents" in the same sentence, I would literally get my ass kicked. The fact that these kids have these attitudes is directly related to the fact that they arent at all supervised enough to fear the reaction of their apparently shi_ty parents. Skylar and Bristan are precious snowflakes...and bratty sons of bitches
Maybe they are real, but I bet they are cherry picked... Especially cause most of them are about apple products...

The backhand needs to be returned to parenting.
Not snarking.

When did it leave? We support the use of this technique around here. . .
I met a woman from South Carolina here in Korea. It was a blind date one of the science teachers at my school set up. We have dinner and I ask her how she likes living in Korea. Her answer, verbatim.
"It sucks. I come all this way and the people don't even learn English properly."
Think I found the source of all that ugly American bs I have to deal with.
