The Cosmo's come up in the car lots after you win them as prizes. Sadly no 1st Gen's in the game :(
There are about 80 different RX-7's not including color so there's still variety. The RX-8 may or may not make it in...
Next month the car choice will be wide open ;)
...with a budget of $2008?
$20080 actually, but yep! Duke came up with that one last year.
I have all sorts of months planned out
They get progressively harder too.
Quick question, is the historic lot in the "approved purchasing locations" as well?

Putting cars together last night, looks like we only get two generations. The first gen RX-7 doesn't seem to be available in the game, and I haven't seen an RX-8 for cheap enough. The earlier rotary cars can only be gotten as prize cars.
no prize cars. would have been a sweet loop thoe.
just looked at a whole list of all the cars in the game, this is quickly starting to look like a spec race. (and everyone already knows it will be a drivers race). Better get out the wheel now.
Got my final car picked out and the allotted upgrades installed, now all I have to do is get my wheel hooked up and start getting some more wheel time in so that I can get some decent times in hopes of keeping up with the rest of you!
Ill give you a hint... it's a mazda! lol
(I think that i have the drag racing part down though )
I am wondering what times are going to start looking like. I am in the LOW 2 minute range... anyone else have any other range markers?
Some guys (coughMEcough) for a drag-race setup to try and knock down quick ET since they (me) can't drive (stupid controller!). You'd be amazed how different the entries get.
Oh, and yes the Historic lot is legal and yes you may photoshop the "Concourse" pic (must start off as a real GT4 shot of your car).
are we allowed to post here what we are driving, what mods, that kind of thing?
Yup. Most people don't like to "give it away", but others post regular updates, myself included.
well, on that note... Heres what I have so far...
1996 Mazda RX-7 Type RS (FD) - Black
Total Time = 2'10.781
Shooting for 2'04-2'08 range

I'm in a second gen
I have a 1985 too, but I just can't get it as fast as my 1996...
wow, I have got some MAJOR work to do. i can only get to 40 at autumn ring, but I can't set consistent laps without TC (I must admit, This is my first time racing without TC)
the High speed rights at Fuji SCARE me.
At vegas I am in the High 12's, i never understood drag racing.
as most fast drivers say... slow in... fast out... in fast...out backwards...
Autumn ring mini drives like a high speed autocross course (at least to me)...
Some observations to me... (not gonna give away the [suprisingly simple] build details yet, BUT) the RX7 understeers at the limit at anything under 60 mph (most of autumn ring mini) and oversteers like crazy at anything 90+ mph (most of Fuji)... just try to compensate by adjusting the suspension if you elected to buy an adjustable one.
(the 900 degree of rotation wheel and pedals help a whole lot )
am I the only one who has found a corner with 3 apexes at autumn ring?
I have found several instances of understeer to snap oversteer. this car is tricky.
nah, i think i know what corner you are talking about (the 3 right handers that if driven right can be run all together)... and which car is tricky?
So what's the "spec" tire?
EDIT, I missed your post, Hard Race Tires. (R2)
Can you please edit the first post in this thread to contain all the rules in bold or something for quick reference in the future please?
This looks like fun so I signed up. We can use any parts including NOS as long we stay under 37K?
I'm guessing a gaming wheel is pretty much mandatory to be competitive here. Does anyone play with the original controller for these competitions?
I'm using the regular controller. Too cheap to buy a wheel.

Excellent. Me too Tomorrow I will pop GT4 into the PS2 and see what it's like. Well, once I excavate the PS2 from the layers of dust it has on it and find a controller.
Any and all mods, but remember your total cost, including buying the car, has to be under $37,000CR. Also the initial purchase price cannot be above $18500CR.
I use a controller and actually do OK. There's a lot in the car building that can make up for poor sim-driving skills and no wheel.
Yes, R2 Tires.
