We bought our house in October of last year and it came with a Fidelity National Home Warranty included, which we used once right away when the dishwasher kicked the bucket. They got a technician out fast, realized there was no point in fixing it, and cut us a check that got us 90% of a new comparable one, which we installed ourselves. Pretty happy so far. We ended up extending the agreement for another year.

Fast forward to this October and the range doesn't work well. It's a JennAir double oven with a convection on bottom and a 5-burner gas cooktop that we quite love. The convection oven wasn't convecting and the heating element was literally half dead. It took 2 service calls for them to identify the faults and agree with us. Well JennAir doesn't make that model, or anything like it, anymore and so the tech recommended replacement.

Today I get an offer email from the warranty company. They offered a Samsung single-oven that's all gas. No dual fuel, no convection, not a double range, not even 5 burners on top, or $850 towards a replacement of our choice. JennAir's start at $5,000, and the cheapest dual-fuel, double oven, with convection we've found of any brand is over $2,500.

I called (twice) and talked to somebody in an overseas phone farm who wasn't getting that their offer did not match their contract. Quote, "Except as otherwise noted in the contract, replacements will be of similar features, capacity, and efficiency as the item being replaced." and "KITCHEN APPLIANCES Covered: All parts and components that affect the operation of the dishwasher - trash compactor - range/oven/cooktop - built-in microwave - kitchen exhaust fan.". Seems pretty cut and dry to me, they need to offer a replacement unit that is a dual-fuel, double oven, with convection and a 5-burner cooktop or a cash valuation on one of those and not the unit they initially offered.

I escalated to a supervisor, who is supposed to call me within 24 hours. I'm not expecting a JennAir replacement, but I am not cooking for 4 kids in a single oven, nor giving up my dual-fuel. Any advice?

At this point, you're on the right path. level one guys usually don't understand the ins and outs, and in my personal experience farmed out help is on a very specific script and unable to make any calls on their own- so to that guy a stove is a stove and that's all he can do. Otherwise, standard comps rules applies, and you've already got your E36 M3 together.
