So our dinky little town decided to pass a law allowing people to drive their golf carts around town - we don't have a golf course, and you can walk from one end to the other in 5-minutes, but they went so far as to put "Golf cart crossing" signs on the highway.

So, as a way to make our town government regret ever considering this nonsense, I'm thinking I should find an old outdated shifter kart chassis & a run-down golf cart, and combine the two.

Thoughts? Ideas? Somehow I imagine someone has already tried this...

Swap a motorcycle engine into a gas-powered golf cart?

Big muffler for sleeper factor + exhaust cut-out for bad boy antics.

I have no real advice here but I wholeheartedly support your idea. Are golf cart bodies fiberglass? If so, maybe you could do something like RC cars do, mount the golf cart body on the shifter cart chassis with some big uprights and hood latches or something. Google found this forum, maybe it could help you too?

snowmobile engines are popular swaps. 600cc sled engine will make a cart scream. without gears.
