So, I jokingly suggested to my mother that I should get a ZAV. She said "sure, whatever."
So now I have acquired a bad habit of searching craigslist...

Can't really lose on that one... scrap value should be near the purchase price.
Buy, modify, survive.
Reduced from $600 is always a good line to read in a car ad.
Having the gas tank in the people tank is a god way to discourage smoking in the car.

And in a ZAV-situation, If worse comes to worst, it could make for an improv bomb.
Is she convinced yet?
Is it home yet? Roof needs more flat black.
Looks like it has an Edlebrock carb & MSD coil. Not sure if there's a belt on the water pump pulley. That might not be too good for the rebuilt "engin".
Swap in a 12 valve CTD in there and flush the cargo area gas tank you'll be set to refine zombie meat into biodiesel for the green ZAV.
Both of your parents are out of town until Sunday. As senior staff member I say sure. Why not? Go for it.

P.S. If you tell them I said it was okay I'll deny it and tell them you stole my password.
I'm not sure.. I don't see any machine guns or flame throwers, although the gas tank might suffice for that..
Some assembly required, I guess.

And this is the most mischief that you can get into?
Or more likely, this is just the alibi - "Really, I spent the entire time looking at old trucks on the interweb."
How are you going to explain the six empty cans of carpet cleaner and the broken leg on the coffee table?
I keep thinking an AWD subaru would be a good ZAV. Sure it has a total LACK of ground clearance, but they're fast, strong, and you can offroad em.

Wow, your craigslist-fu is strong.
And I'm thinking $500-600 is my budget. I want something that is so hideous, I'll get questioned every time I drive it into the student parking lot.
By the way, you all are a great influence! I'm surprised my mom hasn't set up parental controls on our router, and blacklisted this site!

I'm actually going with my dad to Mid-Ohio, so no wild parties.

If rusty POS is part of the definition of a ZAV (and it took me half this thread to figure what the #)$ that meant)- then OHIO and the rust belt are perfect for you.
On your way to the track and back, just keep your eye open as you pass by all the farms.
I know Flordia is good for rust, but for this, I think good, old fashioned, Rust Belt treatment is the key.

No kidding. I guess that guy's never heard of diesel. A good diesel will run on damn near anything you put in the tank. Just don't turn it off after you've dumped random crap in the tank, 'cause it's gonna be a bitch to start back up.
I'd offer up an ex-military Blazer with the 6.2, grease it and you can always find a deserted McDonald's/Wendy's/BK for fuel.
You'll need to log in to post.
