New interfaces are available as well so you could make it look like Windblows or Crapple, etc. If YOU want to berkeley with it, then go for it as there's a ton of E36 M3 to berkeley with behind the scene. Just trying to berkeleying help dude, you're the one that's afraid of change or teaching your wife, which is not my berkeleying problem.

please ease up there Stefan ... when someone says something isn't the way to go... accept that and try to help within the perimeters set out by the OP ... please ...

just because something is easy for you, doesn't mean that it is for someone else ... if you can't work within the stated perimeters, then maybe it would be better if you didn't offer any "help" at all

ok ..?? thanks

Nah. I don't give a berkeley anymore. I just point and laugh and watch the carnage unfold.

I get paid to close vulnerabilities in Microsoft's operating systems for a large financial institution. It pays well and I thank the 3rd world developers that Microsoft hires for their E36 M3 code. However, there's a reason why I don't use that E36 M3 at home anymore if I can avoid it.

I'll just point, laugh and enjoy the show.

In reply to Stefan (Not Bruce):

Don't care what you get paid to do, there is an expectation on this forum that members will be civil to each other. You suggested a solution, and that solution did not fit the parameters of the OP. Nothing is to be gained by getting up in arms about it. Go eat a snickers.

Yeah well, after they fall in the same damned hole and they don't listen to you when you tell them to stop digging... It doesn't mean you hand them a shovel or start filling the hole yourself, it may just mean you watch patiently until they figure it out and then offer them a hand up and out.

the watching patiently is what is needed in most of these cases ...

when someone has made it clear that they don't want the help you can give them, then, regardless of how hard it is ...

it's time to just walk away ... without any parting shots ... hard to do .. but keeps lots of internet angst from taking place

With the Windows 10 machines I play with, I was surprised to find the roll back option was for 7, not 8 or 8.1. That said, I've never rolled one back, and would not be surprised to encounter glorious problems doing a roll back.

I suspect you would be best served with a complete fresh reinstall. If you've got the install discs burned, or perhaps download a copy based on your licence number on the machine, that would likely be the best way to go or to try to go for a reinstall of Windows 8 or 8.1, and then a fresh reinstall of Shell over it.

I honestly don't know of problems with 10 inherently slowing down machines. Not saying this isn't happening with yours, and I have run into various problems with 10, but a slowing down hasn't been one of them.

If you have to go buy something for a fresh reinstall, well then I would join the band wagon suggesting buying 7 instead of 8 or 8.1. You can still lay Shell over 7 for the look she likes.

Speed complaints are interesting as Win10 benchmarks faster than 7/8.1 in video games.

For me, I had a Windows 8.1 machine. I did a factory reset, confirmed all updates were in place on 8.1, started the ten update, found problems, did a factory reset under 10, installed all updates, found things were quirky, did a factory reset on 10, confirmed all updates, then went to device manufacturer's site, and found Windows 10 drivers and firmware updates that weren't offered through Windows Update. Installed those, and things are pretty close to okayish. I'm still on the verge of rolling back due to Wi-Fi spottyness; first boot seems to result in Wi-Fi that appears to be up, but that cannot see any access points.
