Small fuzzy photo, but I've had these two Solido 1:43 cars since 1968. I sent away with some cereal boxtops to get them.

My wife bought me one of these little gems for or first of second Christmas together: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-24-1965-Shelby-Mustang-GT350-Franklin-Mint-/291040748275
I don't have pics of the actual car b/c its on a shelf at work. Really exceptionally well detailed replica of a great car. Probably the closest I'll ever come to the "real thing." Most of the rest of the collection of lesser quality cars ended their days being "played with" by the kids.

And yes, I feel the same way about the $200 1:18 ones. Take them out and drive them around your desk and make car noises. It's good for the soul.
That's why all of mine are open!
In reply to JamesMcD: Very nice. I just realized I have no Russians in my truck and bus collection. Off to ebay again. Here are a couple 1/50 Corgi die cast buses I painted.
This is a CDTA bus from Albany NY like the ones my wife rode to school.
This is painted like on of the last Fishbowls NY/C bought. I made the radio pod for the roof, the silver sides are Bare Metal foil, and all the lettering is waterslide decals I hade made for me.

I think there's been a Corvair, a Comet, and a 68 Chevy Van over in Russia hooking up with some of the locals. In this case increasing the gene pool didn't work out so well.
For some cool Russian 1:43 models, search "De Agostini Russian" on google or Ebay. It seems like all of them come with a nifty "mini magazine" which explains all about the car (in Russian) and has lots of pictures.
Heck, here's a link:
This supposedly lists all the magazine sets. Note though that you can get them much cheaper on Ebay. I got that crazy van above for about $27 shipped, from Ukraine, which seemed pretty cheap to me.
I'm gonna buy more!
Sort of related...over the weekend I finally won a Eleanor Mustang that wasn't stupid expensive on eBay. As a joke, I put a post on my FB page saying "I just won a Mustang on eBay. Hoping to pick it up this week." Since I have been shopping for real S197 and posting pictures for awhile there, this got people riled up. So, how to follow through on the joke? Last night I sat the Mustang (1:18) and the Sunstar F100 that is identical to my real truck on my treadmill running surface and used the flash/camera on my phone. I was really surprised at how well it came out; looks like I took it in my driveway last night. Based on the comments, it's a tie at 5-5 on how many people haven't figured out it's made by Ertl and not FoMoCo.
