A bit disappointed esp in the Quatar 2022 win. Hosting a soccer tournament in the middle of the summer in the Middle East seems like a horrible idea. I imagine the European teams will have a hard time in the heat unless they are planing on having closed A/C pitches (there are a couple in the Middle East). I would have liked it to have been in US so I could go watch it easily. But the US hosted in 1994 and the other countries bidding for 2022 have never hosted the World Cup and it has never been hosted in the Middle East. So in that way it is a good thing it is hosted there. I would have liked to see 2018 to go to England. The world cup has only been hosted once in the "home countries" of soccer and that was way back in 1966.
Qatar committed to having air conditioned stadiums if required. Pretty wild.
The big question is that will they allow people to drink, men and women to dine together, etc. Will their reign in the religious police?
But wait..looks like I'm behind the times. Check out this webpage. This would have to be verified as I have just that one page for info.
I think the biggest reason England didn't get it is Wimbledon. FIFA does not want competing tournaments in the country. Stupid tennis....
Russia 2018 - at least it will be easier to deal with the massively disapointing England performance when they are not playing at home.
Qatar 2022 - expanding the reach of the game - I thought they would win given that the World Cup has never been played in the Middle East.
But Qatar has the best soccer program around!
my embedded funny youtube missed soccer goal is not showing up :(

It will be better by then. Andy Carroll will be playing for England by then.
I can't imagine Qatar will be as understanding about hundreds of thousands of drunks as FIFA imagines.
