I found this little trinket in a box I bought at a sale. It's cast iron, the two prongs on top point outward, and there's remnants of some type of mount on the back. I don't think the outer circle on the left is broken, I'm pretty sure it was cast that way based on the nicely beveled ends.
But what/who was it for?
I did a google image search, and found a couple logos that were similar, but they were from logo sites/businesses, and weren't tied to any specific company.

makes me think of airborne......

It looks like one, but the prongs pointing outward at the top sort of defeat the purpose, and the letters should have been a reverse-font if it were a brand. It's also quite a bit small than most brands - it's only ~1.5" in diameter.

Looks like the old brand symbol AP exhaust systems, but I can't for the life of me think of why they'd have a cast emblem like that unless it was fitted to some sort of sales cabinet (like maybe for exhaust clamps?). I have an old CR Bearings sales cabinet, but the insignia is just painted on.
It is APC (American Products Company) logo before they got into taillights.

Back from their buggy whip accessory days. The whip rests between the two uprights at the top.

^^^ Yup, GRM knows EVERYTHING

Maybe a C4A Logo?
It's a promotional grate for a coal stove produced in limited numbers by the Association of American Coal Producers between 1946 and 1953. The letters stand for "Coal 4 America."
Ha ha, these are great!
Can we get a pic of the "mount" on the back?

How dare you confound this discussion with facts!
If I had to take a guess it looks a like a calf brand " Lazy A , Walking P"
Atlantic Pacific (Tea) Company? aka A&P
My next guess is that it is a trivet for an old sad iron, and the letters represent the name of the manufacturer.

I thought about that too, but a 2" or even 3" iron doesn't seem likely. From what I can see it looks like it would support something else, perhaps something hanging from it, from the two protruding arms at the top, or something sat on top of it. Or, it could just be a completely decorative promotional piece. The logo looks so damn familiar, I just can't place it.

Maybe onto something there. That company has only been in business since 1996 though.

Sorry ECM, just finally had a chance to get a pic of the backside.
