AWD Hemi? Yes, I'll be checking the auction sites for one in 3-5 years.

The Hemis have bad valve tip/rocker erosion problems in applications where they sit and idle a lot.

I owned a 95 Caprice for 12 years. I noticed things.

You do become well versed in laws pertaining to police equipment. I had a state trooper get in my face about having a spotlight. I had the ordenance memorized stating I could have one and only one working spot.

People WILL get out of your way on the interstate.

People WILL do 5 under on a 2 laner road with no passing.

Either of those people will give you the finger once they find out you're not a cop.

Gearheads geek out becouse of perceived unobtainium parts.

I forgot something else that happens. I certain parts of town you can kill a good time. Growing up my best friend lived in Bushwick, a rather rough part of Brooklyn at the time. I didn't want to risk anything happening to my Monte Carlo so to visit I would borrow my dad's Impala, plain gray with hubcaps. I'd pick him up and we'd go out to eat and almost every time two white guys with crewcuts in an Impala could clear a place out. We hardly ever waited in a line anywhere. I'd forgotten about it until last month we went down to Charlotte and stopped at a gas station to pick up some food to take back to the hotel. We must have been in a sketchy part of town as when we came in the place got very quiet and people started to file out to their cars and leave.

You will also learn which of your friends have a past- they will hesitate to ride with you.

...or at least find it odd in the front.

the biggest perk of having a black p71 with push bar and spotlight was i could go 80 in the fast lane and people would get out of my way. even had police wave at me.

So have any CVPI owners ever figured out the secret "chip" that adds power and lets the car do 180mph?

I thought you were let in on that little secret when you own one

I dunno, but the 3.7 Taurus that the local PDs have replaced the Chargers with will HAUL. ASS.

I had opportunity to see an officer go from near zero to probably whatever the speed limiter was on his Taurus, from the highway. He was turning onto the (uphill) onramp as I was driving down the highway, and there was a massive vehicle fire ahead and no traffic. He easily was going faster than me halfway up the ramp and then after that he was just gone.

I mean, hell, with nothing ahead but empty road and an emergency, I'd do it too...

(Fire was a car hauler that had an apparent tire fire. Ended up demolishing the trailer and everything on it)

I owned an ex-detective (no holes from spots or bars) '88 Gran Fury and could run as fast as I dared because the fast lane was only clear. The funny part was it was 1999 and those cars had been out of service for at least five years by then. I may or may not have hooked the wig-wags back up when this happened

Driving a newer white Taurus means no one ever honks at me in traffic. They also ride in my blind spot until they realize I'm not a cop and then mozy on by.

yeah it's called LS swap. the 4.6 makes some decent noises but man it's disappointing in a big heavy car

I thought the CVPI pcm had no speed limiter? Unless I am mistaken.

You can swap the CVPI pcm into the civilian models.

About 10 years back I was driving a marked police car back to the station for an officer. This was in the early days of LED lighting and since they were training that day, they grabbed the odest car wich had a "flying-v Bubble Pattern". I just knew everyone would be slowing me down and driving extra-granny-like. Nope. Zoom zoom zoom. Straight by me. No one slowed down one bit.
Before I removed the lamp from my super-fast-non-speed-limited-modded-chipped P71, people were super grannified.

My post was a little tongue-in-cheek since it seems everybody's uncle's neighbor's roommate seems to have had a CVPI that had the "secret chip" the made the car into a Z06 killer.

Hell, I just want one to see everybody freak out when they roll up on it. Not that I would ever use those powers for evil

Police issue tires slide very predictably.

So I am told by someone I know who certainly isn't me and you can't prove anything because the statute of limitations expired. Also you didn't read this.

I use to like to make kids in Hondas sweat bullets when I had my p71. Un marked detectives car. Smoked windows gun metal grey car with the state police issue hub caps. My general physical appearance also furthered the situation.

In the two Crown vic police interceptors I drove I noticed the speedometer was dead on accurate, sometimes I notice with other cars I have had a + or - 2-4 MPH.
