One of the web sites that I visit frequently has started coming on line very slowly. The other sites, such as GRM come on normally. I have IE 8 but I had that before this slow down began. Any ideas why this is ?

Could be a lot of things. Most likely, their server is slow for some reason. Could be overloaded, could be broken, could have some configuration thing wrong, could be almost anything.
On your end, I've heard some reports of slowdowns with IE 8, but I would think that would be on pretty much every site. The only real possibility there is if they've got some special script IE8 doesn't like.
Try Firefox, Safari or Chrome. See if they work better. If so, it's iE8. If not, it's the site's server.
Now that you mention it, I think this started after I installed IE8. I'll have to do some investigating.
