I might be buying my brothers house at the end of the summer. He has a 16x20 garage separate from the house garage. This will be my "fun car" garage. I'm in the hunt for my next car and I'll have to find something small so I can have room. Anyway, I'm just trying to get ideas on how to organize for more room. I would love to see some pics from my fellow GRMers of small garages.

In reply to Fletch1:
16 x 20 is the same amount of space that i have from the door to the "step" in the front of my garage. there is more room forward of that, but my xterra still fits and the door closes with the front even with the step, with a bit of room to spare. as long as you aren't wanting to put two cars in this garage, and don't mind working with the door open, you should have enough room for most anything.

16' is a fairly generous width for a single car.
You should be able to build a loft for storage over the front of the car, and work area/ benches along one side.
My full sized extended cab pickup won't fit inside of 20', but most cars will.
The issue will be having space to stand in front of the car and work in the engine bay. If you have a bigger vehicle, you may need to learn how to work in there with the door open and the car backed partially out.
But if your "fun car" is a Miata or Yugo, you're good to go.

I hope the depth is 20" and the width 16".
That will give you room to work on one car. 16" wide is really tight for 2 cars and there will be no room to walk around the cars.
I used to put a Miata and a MR2 in a 19" x 19" and that was tight.
Yeah, its 16 wide and 20 long. He currently has two Farmall Cub tractors, a four-wheeler, and some old plows stuffed in there. I'm sure I'll have plenty of space. I like smaller cars anyways so that will help. Any pics out there? I like looking at garage pics. If I need more space to work on something, he will have a 40x60 Morton all finished off with tile floors..lucky. Now I just have to sell the XJ and find something...and then wait until his new house is built:(
I restored my Sprite and ran a motorcycle road racing effort out of a 12 x 24 garage for years before moving to an 11x23. In this space I had the aforementioned Sprite, 4 motorcycles, A 20 ton press, pedestal grinder, 60 gallon vertical compressor, full size TIG and MIG welders, plasma cutter, tanks and torch, 42" wide bottom/mid/top tool chests, 5' of maple bench, full size Safety-Kleen parts washer, 3' wide blast cabinet and vacuum system, materials rack, and a 4' flammables cabinet.
Oh - and a 22'-4" open water rowing shell.
The key is to go up. I made welded angle iron / plywood suspended shelves which afforded close to 40 linear feet of 2' deep storage. Every bit of space is utilized, and everything has a place and it labeled.
That said, we bought another major project house in September which we've just moved into and a main factor was the 26' wide, 32' deep garage and 20x24' machine shop.
