I don't disagree... but if they're at a ball game? As a kid, the last thing I'd want to do while I was somewhere special is have a parent call me from somewhere not special and try to talk about stuff. I dunno... it just seems... disrespectful, like your time is more important than theirs.

I mean, sure, if there's something important that needs to be conveyed RIGHT NOW, that's a different story, but to talk just to chat? I just can't get behind that. That seems overbearing to me.

Of course, maybe these kids want to talk to each of their parents every night, and the smart-phone wielding parent with custody is trying to create a rift by preventing them from talking to our fellow boardmember. Which sucks, for both our fellow GRMer and the kids.

Yes, I'm a parent; no, I'm not trying to tell anyone how to live your life or how to raise their kids (other than I'd prefer people didn't teach cruelty to animals or hate).

I'll go put my nomex pants on...

I treid calling from my work at 5pm (I work til 7pm as well)...the game was at 7. I realized that I would not be able to reach them at 730-8 which is when i would normally call. I only wanted to say "hi" and let them know that I was thinking about them and wish them fun at the game--this would have been a 3-5 minute call.

I've had it happen. Was at a happy hour after work- texted that I'd be a little (2 hours) late to the wife (who didn't receive said message) and was pretty upset that I hadn't let her know I'd be late. Next morning, text shows up. So I say: "What now, baby?"
