Han's blaster was a mauser, modified for the movie. The stormtroopers rifles were also based off of Sterling sub machine guns, if i remember right.

This kind of blows my mind. I like guns, and IIRC a Broomhandle Mauser was a pretty collectable (spelled "$-$-$-$") piece even back then. Maybe one of the prop guys (English, right?) used the worn-out one his grandfather "liberated" from a German soldier in WW2?

As for the Sterlings, there should have been plenty..since the prop warehouse would be full of them from all the WW2 movies made from 1946 to 1975..

Actually, all this craftsmanship makes me want to go get one of the NERF sniper rifles (which I've been craving since I saw the first commercial for it at work), and paint it up.
