No, but I do remember him starring in a short, short lived series (at least I think that it was a series) circa 1980 called "California Fever"...driving a multi-hued Camaro. He had a friend that drove something called the "gross-mobile".
Maybe it was a (can't believe I'm saying this...) TR-7? Smokey Bites the Dust 1st car chase I'm not sure I can stomach watching the rest of them to find out for sure. Baaaad movie.
RX-7 is in "chase 3". It's a Mk1 version with the roof cut off(?).
Can't believe I'm watching these...
Useless Trivia: the yellow and black Chevy pickup was also in "Grand Theft Auto".
The car in the parking lot in the first part of Chase 3: a Lotus Elite.
The RX7 'vert has vent windows! That is a cool looking car. Judging by the dash and shifter it's an SA.
I know where 3 or 4 more 1st gens are languishing...
It's an SA22C (79-80) but remember the interior is identical through 83. That's one of those pseudo-factory 'Vert's I obsess over. That car is truly the Miata's pappy.

Ward's on the case! Here's a thread from the Vintage Rotaries board from 07, evidently the car was for sale.

Evidently, built in the US by some shop called Ultima Pacific Avatar back when the cars were new. Also found a thread on rx7club.com where someone found one (pix about half-way down).

Evidently one of 126 modified.

So bad it's almost good. :47 main chase cop has a visor-mounted whiskey bottle... because drinking from a sun visor is much more discrete than tipping a flask. At 3:08 hysterical woman with huge baby-trays flings a jack-o-lantern onto the cop car causing it to immediately wreck.
I think the show has potential in a mystery science theater kind of way.
It was made to cash in on the Smokey and the Bandit fever, that swept the country I'm sure. But as bad car movies go, it's entertaining.
