Hey everyone, I haven't been on much lately 'cuz I'm working furiously on a website by day and pretty much falling asleep right after by night. Anyhow long story short I'm going to be in Montreal for a week, and a good friend of mine wants to come over and hang out for a couple of days. It's a business trip but I'm sure my boss will be cool with it. My friend has his heart set on this, I wouldn't be surprised if he bought a ticket already

So as the title says my room is booked for 1 person but I want to sneak the other dude in for 2 nights out of the 7 I'll be there. I hear that if you just act natural and try to make the room look like it has 1 inhabitant all will be well. This is a fairly fancy hotel. My plan is to sneak the dude in at night, set up a makeshift bed for him using an armchair and an ottoman (that virtual tour was handy!), in the morning he packs his stuff into his bag which hopefully won't draw any attention. You know you shouldn't do the crime if you can't do the time, so I checked the site and as far as I can tell rates for 1 or 2 people are the same price with all other things being equal, but getting caught is not a good option anyways.

Now the other issues...asking for 2 keys would be ultra-suspicious. My friend will be idle during the day while I'm at training, I should probably leave the key with him. If he hangs out in the room at any point in the day would that cause suspicion?

Any other tips?

I have absolutely no experience at sneaking men into my hotel rooms.

When I book rooms I don't ever mention the number of people. We usually have 5 in a room with two beds and check in carrying a sleeping bag and an air mattress. I wouldn't even worry about sneaking.

Though I can not speak for Canada, in the US I spend alot of time in hotels (in one right now) and all the major US hotel chains do not charge by the person and typically charge the same rate for 4 people or less. Many hotels will will give you two queens size beds for the same price as one king size bed which means no need for "spooning".

To verify, contact you hotel. You can check into this info without giving your name so as to not blow your cover.

When I check into hotels they always ask me how many keys I want even if i show up alone.

Who's to say that you buddy just stopped by for a few drinks and drank too much so you did the right thing and did not let him drive.

Who's to say that he is not your gay lover or even better your gay one night stand?

Good luck with that.

+1 for not worrying about sneaking. The one and only time I've stayed at a fancy hotel, our double-bed room became home to about 10 guys and girls for the best part of the night.

It's like you read my mind, those were the two excuses I had in mind

But yeah changing the booking options is not an...option. My boss may be cool with this but other people in the company won't.

I looked on the community map and I don't see anyone near Montreal, but does anyone have any suggestions on stuff to do? We're already planning karts and paintball at Action 500. My friend isn't into motorsports so much, but we're both big on videogames.

Most chains do become touchy at about seven, especially if they are drunk and loud. One Hampton Inn in New Hampshire will go so far as to call the cops and report an orgy.

It was the goat that tipped them off, wasn't it?

I stay in Hampton Inns all the time (really - like 20 times a year) and they do have a very low tolerance for drunken orgies. So much so that I'd probably think about switching to a Westin or something.

All I can think, is that I'd rather sneak an extra woman into the room......

Not so much the goat but the video crew and director.

Whatever you do do NOT post your intentions on the internet. Subaru of America constantly scans the intarwebbs hoping to void your hotel warranty for unsanctioned / illegal / immoral acts.

I was like what does a Subaru have to do with guys in hotel rooms?

Then I caught the illegal/immoral acts part.

Montreal is a pretty open minded place. They might even encourage you to sneak men into your hotel room. I wouldn't worry about it. Tell them you lost/locked your key in your room. They'll give you another.

When you're in a hotel filled with drunken stock car people and be the on that gets the cops called for being too loud, that's an accomplishment.

That reminds me, I wonder how my boss will do with his sense of humor going from a place where political correctness is an abstract concept to a place where it's a way of life. We get away with so much crap down here, if we were in the states we'd all be in sensitivity training SO fast. I'd be in within two days, our courier would last about 12 seconds, everyone else would be somewhere in between.

You guys don't have to adjust. Tell them you're foreigners visiting their country and they should be bending over backwards to accomodate your culture.

Or forwards, since we are talking about two dudes, after all.

Does Canada charge per-person? The UK does, the USA does not - I could see Canada using either practice.
