most hotels (at least the nicer ones that i've stayed at in calgary like the westin) book reservations based on double occupancy, theres no discount for only having one person, so as long as there aren't more than two dudes in your hotel room, which i'd rather not hear about, you should be fine.

Many hotels will will give you two queens size beds for the same price as one king size bed which means no need for "spooning".
When I check into hotels they always ask me how many keys I want even if i show up alone.
I can't tell you how many times I've had a room with two beds by myself. A lot of business travellers ask for them so they can put their luggage, etc., on the other bed. And most hotels seem to assume you want two keys so you don't lock one in the room.
Thanks for the advice, and to everyone who had the self-restraint to not make gay jokes like a bunch of preteen boys

Come on, you're from the Islands! You are SPECIAL up here!! I am not making a joke here, Bajuns are highly regarded, you can get away with all kinds of stuff. Make the most of your accent, slap the E36 M3 out of them when they think you're Jamaican!!
Most business trips I've been on, they ask me if I want two keys! I wouldn't worry about it.
Hard to believe, photobucket deleted this pic from my album
^ So you're saying it was hard. Enjoy your male bonding

Was this a Fruedian slip on your part to reference gay and preteen boys in the same sentance?

Don't get too crazy. Sneaking a man into your hotel room is berkleying nuts!
Seriously if this is the story you're going to tell your grandkids, you'd better find a way to sex it up a bit. I hope your life is more full than this.
No it's not
Another issue: We want to use the minibar to store drinks, but we don't want to incur minibar charges and there's a tab you have to break in order to open the minibar. I'm guessing they'll charge me if it's broken. I also ran across this:
http://www.independent.ie/national-news/beware-of-hotel-minibars-fitted-with-sensors-995637.html
Update: Opening the minibar is free, my boss checked already
Be careful of putting things IN the Minibar. If there is room to fit anything in there are good chances that the cleaning staff is authorized to remove non-hotel items from their property. I suggest a big disposable cooler and a few bags of ice.
As for the minibar, this often requires a seperate key (to open the fridge) and I always refuse to take the key when I check in.
Most rooms come with an Ice bucket big enought to hold a bottle of wine. You can chill a few drinks in there. Some hotels will provide a empty mini fridge or a second sink that can be loaded with ice.
At what hotel are you staying?

Or just fill the bathtub with ice- you're good there. No need for showers.
That's how I live on the edge.
It's also handy if your friend turns on you and you wake up without a kidney.
This reminds me of the time I was staying in a hotel for a school trip, ordered out, and had the pizza guy pick up beer on the way. It never hurts to ask.
