Not enough snow to have any fun on the drive to work this morning. Bummer.
1" at home.
This storm turned my ~30 minute commute into a 4 hour ordeal that left me sitting by the side of the road twice, pushed out by a local cop the first time only to be stuck again a few miles later, towed to a local garage, and having to get a lift home from a kindly passerby. Absolutely no traction anywhere; every highway in upper Westchester and Putnam NY was a parking lot. I did better on smaller roads, but eventually it just turned into a skating rink.
I will say, however, that the cops, the tow truck/garage operator, and several drivers who stopped to offer assistance (including the one who drove back out to pick me up over an hour after he first passed and left me his phone number) were absolutely great, going above and beyond to help me out. Seems like the collective experience of the hurricane might have engendered a bit of community spirit (however briefly...).

Nope, I just need not to be stupid and lazy. I've got a full set of snows, already mounted, waiting to go on. I swear I could hear them taunting me when I finally got home.
Today was 60F here in MN. I drove the miata with the top down. No jacket required...warm enough for a t-shirt.
Supposed to be a bit more like normal tomorrow.
Snowing a bit outside right now. Doesn't look like anything will come of it, but my deck has a dusting of accumulation.
We've had 2 pretty good dumps so far. A week ago Friday we got about 8", but it was right around freezing, so we wound up with the slickest roads I can remember driving on- ever. And I ice race. Second flurry started Friday morning, and ended last night. Another 8 inches, but its cold and fluffy this time.
If it stays, its gonna be a long, fenderbent winter, I think.
