So I watched Furious 7 and decided I needed to get an offroad Charger. After a couple weeks one finally followed me home and is in my drive way sitting next to my '07 Charger.

Ok not really, what did find its way into my driveway is a 1985 RamCharger Royal SE. It has a 318 mated to a 727 trans. and of course Dana 44's front and rear. There is not a lick of rust in the entire body except some slight surface rust on the hood where the paint was cooked off from the Idaho sun. Every last hose and belt under the hood is brand spanking new as well are the shocks. The tires that were on it were last made in '99 and were dry rotted like crazy but held air. They managed to get me 25 miles down the road to the Oregon side of the border so I would not have to pay taxes on the new tires. Got the guy down to $1200 after pointing out how bad the tires were. Interior is in good shape except both front seats are torn, already tossed some cheapy covers over them. It is a later model so not a full time 4x4 thankfully. It did 75mph the 150 miles home without missing a beat and managed about 13mpg. Not bad for such an old brick.

My wife is loving it and can't wait to take it up in the hills. We already have some plans for things that we want to do with it.

Here is the Craigslist pic of it as I havn't taken any myself yet.

Woah, I haven't seen one of those here in IL for years. Pretty sure they all returned to the earth about a decade ago.

Those are sweet. They seem to be extinct here in KY.

How hard is a 6BT swap?

Sweet truck! Last time I saw one here in Wisconsin, the chrome trim at the wheel wells were floating in mid-air because most of the fender had already rusted away.

Actually from what I here a 12v is almost drop in. I have thought about getting a 12v and sticking Dana 60s under it sometime in the future. The engine compartment is freaking HUGE and is laid out basically the same as any other late 80s Dodge that came with the 12v motor from the factory. Now to find one.

Wife actually want to paint it OD green since it will be our hunting, fishing and all around mountain rig. I want to figure out if the brush guard from a CUCV will fit it.

Yeah even out here most of these rigs are rusted along the bottom of the doors and for needs at the minimum. This thing having lived in the desert its whole life really saved it.

Oh yeah I really need to find some seats that will work better for the front buckets. As it is they have no adjustment for the back angle and have a permanent recline to them from the factory.

In reply to rebelgtp:

Nice Ramcharger! I looked at one over the winter but everything under it was crunchier than a box of crackers.

We just picked up a '78 short bed stepside. I'll have to get a pic up here.

For your seats, take a look at the L-body seats (Omni/Horizon). They recline and are very similar to the Ramcharger seats but without the armrests. Bolt pattern for the seat to rails should be the same. Chrysler had a standard pattern for a long time.

Some late '80's/early '90's minivan seats are also similar to the L's but with the armrest. I can't remember if they recline or not.

A good friend had one of these (a 1988 with a 360 and a 4-speed manual!) and it ruled! We went everywhere in that thing. With a lift, he was able to run over other cars. We renamed the little useless hatch in the roof the Fart Portal. That's all I have to add.

We were coming home from the store earlier and my wife said her Tahoe was the odd man out in our drive way. We have my 95 Ram 1500, the 07 Charger RT and now the Ramcharger lol

It's not that great, but it was always on the dorm room movie channel we had in college so I watched it about 45 times. It had a cool 745i in it too.

"I have a message for you from Tito. He says for you to meet him... in HELL!"

FYI, I graduated from college in 1995.

Dang. That is the truck I learned to drive on. Same colors and everything. It was great fun. I would drive all the time on the old logging roads in the Allegheny National Forest.

Alright got tired of the only pic having those puny old tires on it. The new tires are Toyo Open Country 31x10.5R15's. Here it is as it sits outside my office. This weekend I will get some shots of it up in the mountains.

Oh also found out that there is a '90 in my local yard so here is hoping it has some of the trim pieces and the like that I need to replace for the inside.

EDIT: Oh I actually found the Marked for Death chase scene online. I kinda remember the movie just not really lol. I don't think I have seen it since the 90's.
