I'm surprised no one mentioned Blues Brothers. The scene under the elevated train tracks was not sped up, but it did look like it was!

"What are we doing here?"
"You said, the day you got out, we would go and visit the Penguin."
"Yeah...so I lied."
"...You can't lie to a nun, Jake. We gotta go in and visit the Penguin."
My favorite obscure line, from my favorite movie.
Im waiting for the next one, The Fast and the Bi Curious

I think for those to happen dodge would have to bring back the challenger

It's the Dubz Chally! You know, the one that overcooked the brakes on the first lap of the first event of the One Lap!

Fix the cigarette lighter.
Another more recent movie, the remake of Death Race. The original is completely stupid, but still a classic, but the remake is pretty good. Watched the special features on the DVD and all the stunts were real (albiet in a controled/staged enviroment, unlike some of the older movies), including the tanker truck crashing into that barrier, so thats pretty cool. And i forgot about Dirty mary crazy lary, i love that movie! i know i got a copy somewhere, might be at my parent house...
All three Mad Max films had some interesting cars and driving...
Anyone remember Hooper?
I finally saw the original Vanishing Point a few weeks ago... definitely a 70's era movie... ...I get the feeling there are a number of 70's films that were intended to be watched while stoned... since apparently that's how they were written & directed...

I'd pay $10.50 to avoid having to see that.
I don't get the attitude these movies pick up from car fans.
Perhaps the second part of your sentence up there might provide a giant clue.
Appleseed wrote: I dig how they used the final crash in the opening credits of "The Fall Guy."
The Fall Guy was awesome. If I ever own a pickup it'll be a clone of the Fall Guy truck.
I hated the Fast and Furious series and have no intent on seeing the 4th one. I am surprised no mentioned Smokey and the Bandit or Cannonball Run. My favorite car movies are Le Mans, the original Gone in 60 seconds (not the crappy remake), the orginal Italian Job (ditto before), Smokey and the Bandit, and Driven.
It wasn't THAT bad of a movie.... it's not a CAR MOVIE though.
The only one that i would really consider a car movie would be the 3rd one. And i make that designation loosely.
If you go into it expecting to see a decent, very entertaining action flick, that's what you get, and you won't be disappointed.

Ok they went over board with the crashes but Stallone and Reynolds together in a car movie come on. The reason I consider the second Italian Job so bad is because the original exists and that is so much of a better movie.

Meh. I saw the second first. When I heard how much better the original was I bought it. I disagree. The remake was far better. Plus, it had Charleze Therone.
I liked the original Italian Job better. The acting and plot were certainly more coherent in the remake, but the original one was gorgeous 60s camp goodness.
The getaway chase wasn't serious. It was hilarious. Besides, "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!"

I was gonna type that right before I read your post. I agree whole heartedly. I've never seen the original Italian Job, but enjoyed the remake. To each his own I guess.
I fear if they tried to remake Grand Prix, it would turn out like Driven.
Also, I haven't seen it mentioned yet, so I'll go and say I like the Getaway in Stockholm series. Haven't seen all of em, but so far the second was my favorite.
92dxman wrote: How did this discussion get this deep and not have Ronin mentioned yet?
Ronin is an Epic car chase and a great movie, but not so much a car movie.
The original Italian Job has Micheal Cain. End of story. It is another thing that Hollywood took from Britain and ruined. And speaking of Grand Prix, does anyone know where to find it on DVD or Blu-ray?
