This is an excellent suggestion.
That's some super-cool stuff! I actually wanted it to be a little more angry looking, but that got vetoed. They wanted slightly intimidating, not scary.

VOLTRON!

Eh, go original.
"You're not pretty enough and I haven't had enough wd-40 yet for you to hit my switch"
also, Corey = beer for life? hope so!
Since the rest of the Atomic Age robot references were already taken, then how about the creepy Wonder City Guardians from Batman: Arkham City?

If you go with the Real Doll, don't forget the cleaning kit.
EDIT: Out of what became truly morbid curiosity, I checked out the True Companion web site. The demo video of their latest release is funny and sad at the same time.

Seriously, dude..the head looks great (and pretty close to the logo, regardless of the Iron Giant jokes). Fully understand the need to please the client, can't wait to see the finished piece!

Thanks! That's actually a really crappy picture of the head, it looks much better in person. The people in charge actually said that it was EXACTLY what they had in mind, but didn't actually think it would turn out that nicely. That made my day. They actually borrowed the head for a photo shoot for some billboards that are going up soon. The designer sent me the final design, but I'm obviously not going to post it until it's been posted publicly.
GPS wins with the voltron suggestion.
Corey, care to share any details on how youre mechanically building it? Pics of the metal forming/joining that is taking place?
Most of the joints are very simple. The inner structure is mostly 3/4" tubing, 1/2" flat stock, and 1/4" rod. The 3/4" tubing is the basic skeleton, with the ends smashed flat and bolted together. I welded a lock nut to one side and used nylon washers between the moving parts. Let me see if I can find some pics of the structure without giving away more than I'm allowed too.

I think I've gone through at least 400, and I haven't skinned from the torso or the arms yet. And it's a mix of pop rivets and the old school hand-hammered rivets, which I proceeded to smash the holy hell out of my finger last night while hammering. I'd say there will probably be close to 1,000 rivets in it when it's all finished.
MAKE IT HAVE TO PEE! MAKE IT HAVE TO PEE! MAKE IT HAVE TO PEE!
Just imagine walking into the men's room at a bar and having a robot at the next urinal! You could put it there near the end of the evening.

This is so full of win. I can't wait to see the finished product!
