So due to the aforementioned extreme heat and humidity around here we didn't do too much outside this weekend. However, we're out on the patio now. Nice refreshing breeze. The Datura plant just bloomed again, this time four times. It goes from bud to bloom in about five minutes, and only when it's damned-well ready. We missed it. It's a toxic plant. Hallucinogenic and deadly. Not much time lag between. It grows wild on the side of the road in SoCal. I've seen it. But here it is growing on our patio in Southern New England. At least for the summer. We don't play Russian Roulette chewing on plants. Wine instead. Not as toxic. Oh, and I've been reading James Ellroy. Can you tell?
Worked at The Head Shop. Spent most of my time smoothing and polishing ports of a BMW head.

I turned wrenches for my friend Allen who rented a Vee for the Paul Faford Memorial Vee race at the Race Against Leukemia weekend of SCCA club racing at NHMS.
And spotted a certain magazine's sticker on a competitor's car.

GREAT PIC!!! How'd he do? (Ref: Previous pic with you in it). You guys epitomize the grass roots (two words) level of the sport. While I sit at home and wait for a flower to bloom!
BTW, FV is and has always been my favorite SCCA class. Well, except for Spec Miata. And the production classes in the sixties. And the sports-racer classes. But I do love FV.

Allen improved from his starting position in all three races he entered, but as the car is mid pack at best he never got higher than 14th. He did go from 22 to 16 in the last race of the weekend. Engine just didn't have the power to match the mid-to-front runners. In sore need of a good rebuild. Was a great weekend regardless. 96 degrees on Sunday and humid made for a long day.
Spending the weekend in LA. Also attending the opening for the new Mercedes Classic Center location in Long Beach.
Assuming I can get a brake controller and trailer wiring installed in my minivan within the next day or so, I should be driving out to Ohio to pick up the next car I don't have room for.
Edit: And... now my uncle (mother's oldest sibling) is in the hospital... and I need to stay local for my mother's sake... so this trip is getting postponed. Damn.

Going to take this fancy pile of plywood and see if I can compete against other such watercraft.

I wanted a sea flea and ended up with a full on race boat. 60mph has never felt so fast.
Moving' the child to her college dorm room, then taking the Exocet out to drive fast and take chances.
I'm forcing myself to be social, even though I don't want to. So today I'm helping friends flip a house and cooking, and tomorrow night I'm going to a dance where I'm hoping to meet this girl I've heard about. That last part is terrifying me.
Fishing charter on Lake St Clair Friday afternoon. Nothing else planned yet.
I also built a sea flea. Was an awesome project.
This weekend we made it down to Cass Scenic Railroad in Cass, WV. Highly recommend for a family trip. We stayed in a restored logging camp house.
Bonus pic of the Green Bank Satellite from Bald Knob. We were supposed to go there Friday but Queso kid 2 was sick.
Saturday I turned wrenches with friends on our $1000 Corvette.
Saturday evening I did a 5K with my brother and twin 4 year old nephews (ugh).
Sunday I replaced the starter in the Suburban.
Monday (I get 3 day weekends) I took my Miata to a buddy to have him remove the 1994 Python alarm system.
Relieved to get back to work and settle down.
Saturday I did some work on the Toyobaru including installing GT3 brake ducts.
Sunday I did an autocross laid out on airfield runways, my times were up there with an R35 GTR and a C6 but somehow that was still a bottom-third finish...
Went to a funeral Saturday for a long-time friend of the family. A caring person who worked in school cafeterias and spent decades as a volunteer helping the homeless and the vulnerable, she was killed by a drunk driver in a hurry.
I will be at another wedding. My body is direly awaiting wedding season to be over so I can have a proper sleep schedule back.
I'm making an effort to be social, despite my reluctance. So today I'm helping friends flip a house and cooking, and tomorrow night I'm going to a dance where I'm hoping to meet this girl I've heard about. That last sentence terrifies me. Reading a guide about games cheats and mods. Cheats at cheatmaster allow you to fully explore the game and experience all of its features without investing a lot of time in it. This happens sometimes even after you've finished the game.
Woodward Dream Cruise. Any other Detroit peeps plan on going?

We'll probably be out there Saturday, close to 696. Not entirely sure when/where, but we'll be out as much as we can!
Going to Buck Lake for a birthday party.
Utica NY, north to Booneville, take the road next to the cemetery, go straight until the asphalt ends and then another mile or a mile and a half until you hit the moguls. Turn left into the woods.
Scenic, quiet, but don't cut your finger off or have a heart attack; you gonna die.
