Played a short (1 hour) gig of sax duets with  a friend at a music festival here in Ridgway, CO - made $85 in tips, which is not half bad here.  Had a great time.

Went to the SVRA/Trans Am race at Mid Ohio on Sunday and it was a waste of time.  The ticket was more expensive than last year and aside from the TA cars the paddoc was fairly empty.  It is really a shame because the Vintage weekend was always one of my favorites but I think that when IMS started hosting a vintage weekend people went there instead of Mid Ohio.

The existing fence is being held up by force of habit. Had a bunch of new posts driven and the fence boards are being milled this week. SWMBO will be painting the new fence white as a proper horse paddock should be.

It's Monday, July 3rd, but still considered the holiday weekend. Annie and I met up with our "so much  fun" friends Janice and Tom for dinner at the Crow's Nest in Warwick, RI. We had leftover drinks so we took them out to Tom's new WRX overlooking Apponaug Cove and listened to some good music. Happy Independence Day everyone!

This weekend we got so much rain!!  Did a bunch of little indoor projects. Today was humid but no rain. I got the new belts and blades installed on the riding mower and tamed the rain forest that my lawn had become.  Tracked down an electrical gremlin in my Merc that has been an annoyance. Turns out a small piece of foam somehow got in to the socket for one of the reverse light and was creating just enough resistance to make the system think there was a bad bulb. Helped a friend down the street pressure wash his porches and a retaining wall.  I actually supervised and he did the washing.  Other than that tomorrow will be bbq and maybe a bit of yard work.  If I get motivated I have a dozen 15' oak logs that need to be stacked. I may start that process. Or not!!  Ice tea on the back patio and watching the day go by is also an option.

In reply to Gary :

It has occurred to me that you are not that far from me. We should meet up sometime this summer. A car show or something.

Maybe we could get some of the other people here in the NE and do somthing.

Hey Dean, Annie and I were on 495 today on our way to Maine and tooted the horn at you as we passed Exit 70. Did you hear it? laugh

I think a southeastern New England get-together would be great. I know there are at least three active forum members in southeastern MA (in the Plymouth area). Maybe we can set something up at Larz Anderson.

Went on a few bike rides including one with some cousins, and had a family BBQ.

RI's about a 10 hour drive for me but maybe a stop at Lime Rock could make it worthwhile wink

This Saturday, July 8, the Ridgway (CO) Railroad Museum is sponsoring a car show, "Rods and Rails".  I'm displaying my 94 Vette to support the museum (I'm vice-president), but mostly my classic rock/blues band is playing for four hours to provide entertainment.  Had to get the other players (all my advanced age) to remember how to play some car and train songs (had to explain to the bass player what a Little Deuce Coupe was, and I doubt even most of the car show participants will remember what a 409 is) - but this is going to be fun.  Hot (86 degrees), but fun.

Had a super turnout - 65 cars in the show (in a county with 5000 residents and largest city within 100 miles of about 20,000), the local 4H kids made several hundred dollars at their food booth, and the museum gave more than 200 free rides in our moving equipment, including Rio Grande Southern Galloping Goose 4.  And the band sounded good too.  All in all a great (but tiring for us old folks) day.  Cars included everything form a Devin to a 33 Willys supercharged gasser to a nicely modded Datsun 510 and 2000 roadster  to Model As and woodies.

Gave my wife a pedicure on Saturday. Went all out - foot bath, moisturize, foot and calf massage, bottle of prosecco, and snacks. She appreciated it very much, and I enjoyed doing something special for her.

Anyone looking for an easy and inexpensive way to make your significant other feel really special, I highly recommend it.

Total cost was <$40 for a proper foot bath and massage oil (sweet almond oil), since we already had everything else needed on hand.

We're trying to stay dry by not going outside. We have been experiencing torrential rain all day, and could end up with 5-6" total by 11:00 pm. The ground is saturated. Flash flood warnings in effect. Tornado watch earlier, but not now. We were planning to go out to dinner this evening (what else is new?), but with the heavy rain and flooding, we decided against that. No matter; we have frozen meatballs in the freezer we can heat up, good music playing on the new Sonos speakers, and sufficient wine for the evening.

Track night on Friday night, new tires and better lines improved my personal best by 3sec:

Saturday I was doing airport runs and generally bus-driving family around.

Sunday I had to old-lady-sit my grandma but I did squeeze in a bike ride around town:

The ride did involve a pretty nasty high-speed crash but it was a good ride up until that point:

Was hoping to make it to the Centralia airport autocross but couldn't get all that time away...

I spent the last week and a half digging 300' of trench to install power, water, and sewer to 4 RV camping pads at the farm in NC. 300' of 350 MCM quadruplex run to a 200 amp sub panel, 260' of 2" PVC, and 300' of 1" PEX water line installed. I spent about 18 hours sitting on that little excavator. I had to come back to work to recuperate.
