My buddy's dad built a fairly legit dirt oval kart track on his property and is trying to get a "back 40" type race series going. I went over for the first time a couple weeks ago just to hang out and spectate, and expected to be doing the same again today. Instead I got offered a drive in his uncle's rig, since he wasn't able to make it.
Man what a blast, and on a fun per dollar basis impossible to beat! Ran five races in total, four 20-25 lappers and a 40 lapper. I ended up taking the overall points win for the day and set the new official track record in qualifying (although TBF the kart was a bit of a ringer.) Going to be sore as hell tomorrow though, I feel like someone was wailing on me with a baseball bat all afternoon.

We had a pretty benign weekend, but enjoyable. I finished trimming the shrubbery in front of the house Saturday morning, and then I was free. We jumped in the MX-5 and drove to the Quiet Corner of CT and enjoyed driving the back roads. Then stopped at Taylor Brooke Brewery in Woodstock, CT for a couple beers.
(Pic from May, previous time we were there):

And my beer yesterday:

Today after lounging around in our zero-gravity chairs this morning in the back yard, we drove to another brewery, "Shaidzon" in West Kingston, RI:

The brewery and beer garden are located right alongside the Amtrak Northeast Corridor, and the highlight was watching the Acela Express go by at 100+ mph in both directions less than 50 yards away. Exhilarating to say the least!
Finished up with dinner at Valley Country Club.

Baled straw yesterday and routine maintenance on the family truckster honda odyssey today. Oil and tranny fluid, tire rotation, etc.
Then a nap. I love a good nap.

His insurance guy is gonna have an aneurysm.
A simple monitor change on my gaming PC turned in to a 4 hour "While you are there". LOL.

My friends and I were the live stream broadcast team for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. Good times, great event.
I absolutely beat on my '04 parts car Boxster. ...and it still lives to play another day.

A lot of driving... Drove home to PA from NH on Sat morning to see my mom for my birthday... after a few text messages, drove to pick up a lightly used Pearl drum set for $100... then to my friend's house to transfer said drums. Then dinner... then home in the wee hours of the morning... Sun... slow start for my birthday... a flat road ride... live chat with astronomy group... pack and return to NH, getting back to the hotel late... a couple of hours of decompression (after being reminded of why I normally don't drive through CT). Then bed.
Holy berk, am I tired...
Saw Oppenheimer Saturday. Really good. Weighty and haunting. He was a complicated and messy individual with a significant legacy. This movie really conveys that. I'm still thinking about and chewing on it.
Sunday took a bike ride, got lunch, and came back to a nice evening in drinking wine, listening to music, dancing, keeping the TV and social media turned off all afternoon. It was great.
Going racing. Not driving just a crew guy but still racing.

Heading here in an hour or two:

I have a meeting in DC at 8am Monday so I flew in today and spending some time wandering around. Got some sort of Buick SUV which is pretty nice really. Stops in north/South Carolina and Georgia and fly out of Atlanta Thursday afternoon. Should be a good week
My wife and I got another really nice sail in my old 16 foot sailboat yesterday, steady WSW wind at around 9 mph with some stronger puffs. We were out in the open lake in no time and had a great time. Really, really impressed with how the new sails perform. Lower humidity and mid 70’s temps were also very much appreciated. I took the Sunfish out myself for about an hour today and managed not to tip over for an extra bonus!
I went and saw a hillclimb rally race. Saturday was practice and Sunday was the race. Dunno who had the fastest time today. I watched it way above so I could see all the cars zip up the gravel road to the finish line. I seen a car do a World Of Outlaws slide around a corner and from my point of view it looked way too close to the outer edge. That would have not been good for him, no guard rail. Yikes! That was the only car that slid so close.
Having fun with my friends.

Haven't updated this in a while. Been doing a lot of bike rides. A couple weeks ago, I did an autocross, got 6th in raw time and adam525i got 4th:
Then on Monday (long weekend) I did a track day with a couple cousins on the Mosport DDT course:
The BRZ gets dropped off on Saturday (and hopefully picked up on Saturday). Having the full OEM Audio+ kit installed. 450 watts worth of power, replaces the front six speakers and puts an 8" sub in the trunk.
I worked part-time in a stereo shop in high school, so I could easily handle it, I just don't want to.
I'm going to spend a couple of nights here with the RV.

Going to Cape Cod to go out in the boat. Haven't been able to get up there since we put the boat in at the start of July.
Heading to the junkyard shortly.

Trackcross today and trackday tomorrow with Bridge City Autosports at Oregon Raceway Park in my FR-S!
