Another Colorado sax player here. I currently play in a 40-piece concert band and a 6-piece sax ensemble, all in concert settings - at 65 I'm not into the 9PM - 2 AM, pack up and maybe get to bed by 3:30 AM scene anymore. I'm a GRM-type, bang-for-the-buck kind of guy (read, fixed income and frugal), so my current main horn is an early LA Sax tenor (which is actually a nice copy of the Selmer Balanced Action, I'm told), with my others being a cheap soprano and a student model Leblanc alto.
My favorite style is blues, but I've played pretty much averything over the years. Our currend group plays everything from classical to funk. Look on youtube for Montrose Community Band - the sound quality is crappy, of course, but it gives the idea. One nice tune is a medley of Pickin' Up the Pieces and Play theat Funky Music, arranged by our leader (and soprano player).
I also occasionally jam with Celtic folks on tin whistles and bodhran, and play native American flutes.

Nice setup Jay!
I do wish I had the time and tenacity to do a good techno setup. But alas, i already have to many (ie: expensive) hobbies as it is. I don't think the wife would be too pleased if I started collecting vintage drum machines and synths. Though if I ever came across a 808 or even better a 909 for a decent price, it's on!
Back in my rave days I remember seeing Daft Punk in a circus tent in the middle of the woods of Wisconsin. They were running at least 6 303's and were jumping around like mad men tweaking all the knobs on the synths. Whoever says techno doesn't take talent needs to see them live.
Jim also has the license plate TENRSAX (or a reasonable facsimile) on his autox/track car
I had a roommate who tried really hard to make me like techo, but when it came down to it, I have listened to way too much Ramones to tolerate (almost) any song longer that two minutes.
Oh, does anyone know of a good place to look for a Tascam 388 or 688? We are looking to pick one up.
