Her parents don't own anything. Whatever they leave, he is welcome to.

It's like my mom and her brother. He's not a bad person, but he is an addict and will never amount to anything in life. He gets clean, starts doing well, takes the money, then goes on a bender for a couple weeks. Rinse and repeat his whole damn life.
It's a shame. But he has been offered the world in regards to help (treatment clinics down in the USA, money thrown at him, always help to get back on his feet). There are some people in life that are content to be nothing more than beggars on the street. "You can lead a horse to water..."
