There's been a LOT of metal flying over recently.
Recently saw a dozen or so Blackhawks pass in formation.
Just watched (8) C-130's fly by. Appeared to be transferring to Moody.
Somebody must have some serious stuff they want moved.
While planes flying overhead may not seem strange, I've never seen them over my house in 10 years.
I live near the Marine Corps Logistics Base, which offers Marine supply support for everything east of the Rockies, and in the Atlantic area. We shipped more than nine million pounds of goods and equipment to the Persian Gulf War, so it makes me wonder when I see stuff moving.
Curiosity...
Meh, prolly just training.
Just because they're trainin', don't mean somebody's NOT gettn' butt-whooped. Jus' sayin'.
Moody is a big Air Force CSAR hub, HC-130s and HH-60s. Could be a big exercise.
Some of the National Guard F-18's flew out of Portland this afternoon and they were in a hurry.
So yeah, something's up as it were.

DANG's Charlie 130s are still mostly on the ground. Haven't heard C-5s out of Dover, either - they have a real distinctive, lazy sound to their turbines at cruise. Not much going on up here.
I know it's "politically incorrect" to say so, but the canexicans berkeleyed up another terrorist plot today. I guess "terrorist" is offensive to terrorists, so we have to go all Scooby Doo and say "Those meddlin' kids" now, right?
Anyway, it might explain the increase in hardware. Apparently there were ties to Big Al Decatur.
Which brings us to the question: What'd Canada do? They're about as inoffensive as it comes.

Which some find highly offensive in and of itself
Have you ever delt with the French Canadians ?

So who pissed in who's pool this time?

Well, no. I assume we're talking outside of hockey season.
Any word from ground troops, they usually can sense the E36 M3.... or is this just air for now.

Most likely the opposite. The guys are coming back from theater and Moody is also a logistics hub, along with Warner Robbins. Dont forget Columbus has a major Army base and Ft Rucker is just down the road.
Plus, they are probably getting their flying in while they can. We just took a massive hit budget wise. We have entire figther squadrons that have been ordered to sit. The USAF Weapons School is done for this year. That has never happened.
These guys are done for the year; literally, wrap the birds up, they aint going anywhere;
- 555th Fighter Squadron from Aviano airbase, Italy (F-16s)
- 77th Fighter Squadron from Shaw AFB, South Carolina (F-16s)
- 492nd and 494th fighter squadrons from RAF Lakenheath, UK (F-15Es)
- 18th Aggressor Squadron from Eielson AFB, Alaska (F-15s and 16s),
- B-52 squadrons of the 2nd Bomb Wing from Barksdale AFB, Louisiana
- 5th Bomb Wing of Minot AFB, North Dakota (also B-52s)
- B-1 squadrons of the 2nd and 7th Bomb Wing from Dyess AFB, Texas
- 94th Fighter Squadron – Grounded April 9 (F-22s)
- 336th Fighter Squadron – Grounded April 9 (F-15E)
- 48th Fighter Wing – Two squadrons stand down April 9 (F-15E)
- 391st Fighter Squadron – Stands down April 9 (F-15E)
- 77th Fighter Squadron – Stands down April 9 (F-16s)
- 57th Wing – One squadron (Thunderbirds) stands down April 9
- 158th Fighter Wing – One squadron stands down April 9 (F-16s)
- 169th Fighter Wing – One squadron stands down April 9 (F-16s)
- 187th Fighter Wing – One squadron stands down April 9 (F-16s)
- 354th Fighter Wing – One squadron stands down April 9 (F-16s)
- 52nd Fighter Wing – Closing (A-10s)
- 442nd Fighter Wing – One squadron stands down April 9 (A-10s)
- 917th Wing – One squadron stands down April 9 (A-10s)
Those are just the dudes shutting down. That number of squadrons have been ordered the Basic Mission Capable status instead of Combat Mission Ready. Its a bloodbath right now.
I dont want to turn this into a political disucssion, I am just giving my perspective. I don't think anyone is getting anything kicked for quite some time.
8 percent is a lot of stuff when you have a really large military.
Or are these the result of planned downsizing? Maybe both?
I am not terribly worried, I am sure we have a lot left.
I have not heard of anything going on today and it was relatively quiet which means a storm could be brewing or it was just a slow monday :).
Mental - didn't realize it was that bad. I am really surprised my unit isn't on that list haha.

I've already had friends receive orders for deployment to Korea, whether thats just due to tensions, or if they really are pissed off at Kim, IDK.
Some things not on stand down are surely going over there.

I bet the golf course is still open! Coast Guard is getting hammered too, but we're sacrificing all to keep ships floating and aircraft flying. Peacetime mission and all.

i trust that list is public?

fun times are ahead. the fact is, people lament the fact amerika "world police", but who is going to step in and take care of this? britain? france? f&$k no. And if it is allowed to slide, it sends a pretty clear message that nobody will do dick about violations of governing law. no different when the us was all isolationist for a bit, look where that ended up :(
I was gonna mention that the Israelis said Syria used chemical weapons today and the US is going to investigate it (I'd take any of Israel's accusations of their neighbors with a big grain of salt).
Albany, GA is about hour's direct flight from Ft. Rucker, AL (if my math is correct), which is the main training hub for US Army aviation.
