...clean the work bench.
Found more gloves than I could count, 2 bucks in loose change, parts from last years failed challenge car, tools I thought I'd lost (no, not my prybar), and lots of dirt/metal shavings, random hardware and spiders.
What did you find in your dusty corners?

God....I hate that day. I'm going to have to do it, soon, too.
Used to religiously clean and close up shop for winter every year. Just started cleaning out mine yesterday. 24 X 28 and not a path to walk through. Overwhelming to say the least. Found more E36 M3 I was looking for that was MIA. I thought this would just be a Saturday afternoon job... this fiasco is gonna take all week.

I've been doing that as well. Some of my stuff is in the classifieds section, others will be on eBay or CL (stuff that I don't think anyone here would be interested in).
The last time? Valve retaining collets I had to replace, two 9/16 wrenches I replaced and some parts from a Weber carb that I sold.
When I go out there I cuss at the mess, but when it comes time to garage time I'd rather wrench. Maybe this fall I will get around to it...

In reply to Gearheadotaku:
Ugh. Mine (along with my garage in general) has become a catch-all. I need to do a lot of tidying in the near future.
If you are bored, you are welcome to stop by and clean mine. It's been buried so long I'm not even sure what color the top is. It always seems to be the stopping place for things that don't really have a place.
I need to clean my entire garage if I am ever going to reassemble the saab
I found a Mazda 5 speed transmission.
Ugh, I had to clear out a back patio to make room for a hot tub, which meant the garage had to be cleared out and the storage space and the shed. I found more stuf than I know what to do with! What do you do with 20 year old weed killer that glows?

I don't really have a work bench right now. I do, however, have two old kitchen base cabinets and a pair of Gladiator cabinets and a parts washer that are completely covered with crap. The garage itself is relatively clear so I can get the Mini and GT6 in and out as needed.
The most recent annoyance is at some point an old milk jug with maybe 3/4 full of 50:50 antifreeze mix decided to spring a leak and dumped it all over the side wall (no, I don't have pets). That'll be annoying to clean up since I'll have to move pretty much everything out of the garage first.
My basement is actually worse than my garage - a disorganized mess of (4) E30 and (8) VW wheels, (5) bikes and bike parts, 1800ES parts, music gear and various... things.

I cleaned mine at the house last week. I now have to clean the one i have at the hanger that I have not cleaned in 10 years. That is not going to be fun. it will be rewarding though. All the motivation from this site has me moving on my projects again though. I have been driving the Alfa now for the start of summer. And also have plans to get the MGA going soon.
then i will need another project.
Cleaned my shop last summer! Did a tool roundup, built a new workbench, installed my lift, ran some electric and lights...good to have the room back.
Dusty corners huh? If I just keep it automotive and tools I could make a HUGE list. Wore out more gloves than I can count, found about 600 bucks of scrap iron (3 trailers full!), NOS parts from a car I bought in 1976 and still own, found more tools than I can process properly (don't even ask about the prybar incident), lots of dirt, shavings, rat poop, shredded stuff, furniture etc.
I have it all chronicled on another site but am not sure if it is polite or acceptable to just insert a link.
but I will post a couple of pics!
One small corner of "before"!
One small corner or "Much better".
there's a XL250 in my shop somewhere... I ain't seen it yet

Not a work bench, but a work truck. After almost a year in my front yard, and many requests that he move/ remove it, my son just gave me his 2002 Chevy Express 2500 van. First order of business was to clean it out. Probably 700 pounds of stuff. Unopened tools, drill bits, electronic junk, dead batteries, and more junk. Looks a lot better now, have a buyer on the forum. Now if the kid will just get me the title!! I always kept my work truck fairly clean, at least I could see what was in there.

My garage is cleaner than it has been in years, and its still messier than yours...
My wife helped me clean the garage a couple weekends ago. I didnt even ask her to..and I wasn't even planning on cleaning the garage that day.
i better go pickup all the tools I scattered around yesterday before she notices.
Cleaned out my garage a few weekends ago, found a jack handle to the HF press I returned a week or so before that for being flimsy. I took it back to HF but they didn't want it. Hey, I tried to do the right thing.
Finished that C230k in the driveway after it sat on jackstands for a week. Good riddance.
My son cleaned out my IS as part of my fathers day present. It was far from messy or cluttered but there was still plenty of stuff that needed to go.
