Ice is slippery. Little known, but massively important fact overlooked by many IL drivers.

BTDT - move along, nothing to see here...

In all seriousness, stay safe you guys up north.  Those roads can be brutal (22ys in MN - 18 in AZ - much like Turetto, I am never going back)

Turned the traction control off makes those turns more fun, rather than having the ABS get angry at you.

Looks like the split the difference between the tree and the bush.  Could have easily lost a bush or gained a car wrapped around your tree.

Sorry 'bout that. I saw the little flag, thought it was a cone poking out of the snow. laugh

Yes, we could've! They also just narrowly missed a large pile of frozen dirt and the accompanying hole left from some recent city maintenance. (Which is why the flag was still there for ECM to see).

In the late 1970’s I worked for a builder that had 3 model homes and one weekend drunk or high teens drove across the front of the lawns and turfed a little bit.

Being the high school clean up kid he told me to get a long 2x8 board and drive nails upward and turn it up at night for the lawn jobs and to blow their tires.  I didn’t follow through but he was serious.

I may have left a set of tracks like that in my teens. Practicing handbrake turns and the entry to the corner was a bit more downhill than I expected. Whoopsie.

Hitting an apex perfectly in a drift is not an easy task.  It's a good thing we have curbs in our neighborhood, or someone else would have done this too.  Certainly not me...

I knew a guy in college who used to take a Wrangler on occasional sideways trips through the turf in front of the BIG homes in the Paces Ferry area of Atlanta when we were on the way home from bars in Buckhead. There is no terror like sitting in the back seat of a jeep with a sloped roll bar as it careens sideways down a golf-course-like hill in front of a multi-million dollar home.

Like move out of the way or move houses? We did move into this house just this summer.

My wife already thought this house was particularly prone to being hit by a car, and this event didn't help. She's right though, this house probably has about double the chances of being hit than an average house (it's on a corner), but that doesn't make it likely. We also have bigish trees to play defense.

Yeah I meant houses cheeky

Did you move to a different area or close to where you were before? I think I remember you living in Chicago Heights or the vicinity the last time you mentioned it.

I certainly did not and would never do such a thing.

At one point my youngest son said “Daddy are you having fun?”.  Yes I was...

Good memory! Yeah, we were in Chicago heights, now we are about 5 minute drive away from our old house, in a place called Flossmoor. New house is in a walkable area (and walkability was a priority for us). 5 minute walk to train station to go Downton, by the train station is a nice restaurant, bakery, library, post office, brewery, barber, etc. 10-15 minute walk from the grocery store. 10 minute walk to bank.

I know Flossmoor very well. My wife is from there originally. My dad and stepmom and aunt and uncle live in Homewood. I’ve spent a lot of time there. My in laws are members at Idlewild Country Club. May have to hit you up the next time I’m in the area.

Oh man, I was here all day, and my home office overlooks the front yard. I would have taken you guys to lunch if you drifted a surveying van between that tree and that bush (and the hole and accompanying pile of dirt).

HA! My in-laws belong to Idlewild (technically so do my wife and I) too, and my wife grew up here (in Chicago heights, but went to Homewood Flossmoor high school). I bet they know each other. My wife would have been Sarah Olson in high school (soccer, marching band, goalie for the field hockey team), her younger brother is Eric Olson.

Edit: and yes! Please hit us up, we have lots of space and love having visitors.
