I was at Walmart the other day and saw something that I never would have expected to see there.
Now how many of you know what it is? (without cheating and looking at the image name).

Yep it is an Auburn. The pic really doesn't do it justice as it was just taken with my phone. I swear the few times I leave an actual camera at home something like this pops up.
This car had the most beautiful paint I have ever seen it was like looking into a black mirror and not even a trace of orange peel. I would have gotten a few more pics but the owner was scowling at me from inside his RV.

Seriously?! Why would he park his show car in a walmart parking lot and then scowl at someone who admires it enough to take a photo?
Or maybe his rig just has a toilet seat where the driver's seat goes (for efficiency) and he was grunting...

Hand-rubbed lacquer FTW

Probably brushed on.... old school style!!
Owner was scowling? Seriously? Wow, I've found that's one of the best ways to make a new friend, is to show interest in someone's pride and joy. Best job I ever had, hands down, was doing write-ups for the paper for cruise nights and hot rod shows. Even the grumpiest old bastard would break out in smiles if you complimented his baby.
Under the hood it probably says Chevy or Ford. It is still a beautiful car.
Any one want to buy it for me?
The Auburns were built in Auburn (!), Indiana, by the same company that made Cords and Deusenbergs (ACD). In the fall of each year, the ACD Club sponsors a weekend exibit of the various gorgeous cars made there. The event (including an EPIC parade!) generally coincides with the big fall Kruse auction, where many of them show up for sale.
Bring your checkbook, and a certified note from your banker.

Pretty girls can get away with that.

or teeth
Yeah normally I have people come up and start talking to me about their cars in a nice friendly manner but this guy looked like he was going to freak if I got one step closer to the car.
Hey now my girl friend is good lookin, skinny and has all her teeth and she was with me while there. She actually spotted the Auburn before I did.
It's neat, but something looks a miss. The tires look too short and fat for anything of that vintage. Are there any replicas/kits that are of decent quality?

A shirt that covers the gut... completely.
Check out www.peopleofwalmart.com for your walmartian pleasure.
I'll have to find my pic that one-ups that Auburn and post it - horse drawn Amish buggy tied up at WalMart about 10 miles from my house here in the Finger Lakes region of NY.

Moms who are NOT beating their kids. Seriously -- whenever I have to go into one of those stores -- anywhere -- there is a Mom going off on one of her own.
