Looks like my son and I will be heading to Sears Point for a kart race the first weekend of May if I can swing the costs. I know there's a few Californians on the board and those who have raced at Sonoma, so I was hoping someone could point to a GRM priced hotel/motel. We don't need fancy, just clean and safe. Chain hotels are easy to find, but little 20 room mom and pop ones aren't. From what I've seen, most are around $200/night. I assume it's because that area is "wine country". I'd like to stay under $100/night, but under $75 would be awesome.

Any suggestions? I may look at house renting too, like HomeAway, but thought I'd ask the hive.

Twice now I have stayed at the El Pueblo inn right in Sonoma. Reasonably priced, not far from the track, rooms are mostly quite good (some are OK, some are very nice and spacious), nice pool and hot tub, and there is an awesome taco stand across the street. Good free breakfast included.

Yeah, I looked at that one, but we'll be there 5 days (Wednesday night to Monday morning) and for those days, it's $283/night. Way too steep for my pocketbook, sadly. Otherwise, it's an awesome looking hotel.

Gosh, I don't think I paid much more than $100 for the big room, but I was there in December and March, might be lower demand times.

We'll arrive May 3rd and leave May 8th. It must be wine country season or something because prices go through the roof compared to right now.

Huckleberry, I considered a campground if it had a cabin, but didn't really find much. Karting days are hard and I just don't think either of us would last sleeping in a tent......

Petaluma is an easy drive to the track. I've had good luck getting some deals there.

You'll need to log in to post.
