When we were dating, my wife loved the 3 inch dual exhaust on my Chevy shortbed 4x4. Years later I got the chance to drive her in a few Ferraris. The 355 Spyder she liked, but she hated the 360 Modena. She decided it was just too much of an assult on the senses.
It's nice to know that three inches of something can impress a woman.

that's three inches in diameter....

I think you'd be a genius for getting 4 Geo Metro's all running at the same time!
I could do 1 Geo Metro, 1 Subaru Justy, 1 Subaru 360, and a Yugo. Would that work??
My wife says no.
I just remembered that I have "The Hire" on DVD. Does anyone else have this? I haven't heard a good BMW soundclip for a while...
The real question: where does a full-Termi'd, dry clutch'd Testastretta Ducati motor fit in? 'Cause I think that's the one that does it for my girl.
Too bad I have a Suzuki TL...
I try to convince her it thinks it's Italian, and it's faster anyway. But she doesn't care.
(Actually, I have access to a wide variety of bikes for this sort of test. And friends in med labs who may have the ability to test testosterone levels. How does one get funding how studies like this? This could certainly put to bed a lot of gearhead debates.)

the DOHC 4 valve 4.6 does sound quite nice. However, there is no engine noise nicer than an ALMS corvette GT1 car! GRRRR.
You must have a hearing loss. Those ALMS Corvettes are bone-chillingly loud, and they always travel in pairs.
A boxer 4 or 6 is sweet music though.
Loud yes, but they sound pretty good to me. Come to think of it, that Olivier dude driver ain't bad either....

Oh man, I almost forgot about Ducatis. Especially the Desmo16... if the styling leaves any love to give, the sound takes it up.

Got it. Love it.
Especially the one with James Brown.
When I was at University I used to see a guy riding a Ducati around campus. Women were falling all over him anywhere he stopped.
So hand-built Italian desmodronic I4s do it as well...that's a more realistic target at least.

According to the study, it's merely the soundtrack that 'arouses women', not the car itself.
Begs the question, could one record the aural delights produced by the Maser, then play it loudly through the stereo in one's Polo (masking the real engine note), to achieve the same effect?

Sure, but where do you find those? Ducs run L-twins, my man, the way God intended.
