Somebody swiped a coin in Berlin.
225 lb solid gold coin
Face value = $1 mil. canadian. By weight worth about $4 mil US. Guessing it's already been melted down. Funny it was kept behind bullet-proof glass - who's going to shoot a gold coin?
A giant ultra-pure gold coin has to be worth at least $4m to some cackling supervillain looking for curios to decorate his lair with.
Man, I thought we were going to have to call in the Car Wash Change Thief Action Squad!

Why does this thing exist?? Other than to be a burgler magnet? What the hell problem were they trying to solve when they made it?

Reminds me of when US politicians talked about minting a trillion-dollar coin or something like that to do an end-run around the fight over the debt ceiling...good to have one around just in case, right?
In reply to GameboyRMH:
I know a lot of my problems could be solved if I could pull a few billion in change out of the couch cushions.

It was thought up and minted in Canada, by bureaucrats.
It doesn't need to make any sense at all.

Well duh, how else are you going to buy a second-hand Enzo/Veyron off the Dubai Craigslist when the ad says "payment in gold bullion only"?
You'll need to log in to post.
