Special Place in Hell

So this isn't new news, but we have a family friend that collects petroliana. He is retired and has a lot of money so most of his collection gets restored. Now he has a giant shop full of this stuff along with his antique/classic cars and has even gone to lengths to build a replica Art Deco era Gulf service station on his property. Some of his signage is outside on pedestals and mounted to his shop. They live out in the country on a semi-wooded lot.

At the end of last summer they went on a road trip and had their kids stop by every few days to check on the place. Well at some point between the days, someone came out to the property and decided it would be fun to smash every thing that was available to smash. Fortunately they weren't able to get in the shop or the house.

Luckily everything was insured and that just finally came through and he can now start getting some of his stuff restored and replaced.

I heard about the insurance finally paying up today and it reminded me that there's a special place in hell for the people who did that.

berkeleyin' dirtbags. No purpose to wanton destruction like that and I can only imagine that a good bit of the stuff is irreplaceable being out of production for more than half a century.

Sort of like the ISIS/Taliban scum who destroy archaeological sites which don't agree with their version of imaginary sky-friend.

Any leads on who did this? I have some junk and could use some extra cash.

Nope. The Sheriffs Dept thinks it was some drunk teenagers, possibly adults. They did find some beer cans

When I am benevolent dictator, vandalism will be a capital crime. Murder, violence, theft, fraud, all can occur for a defensible reason, or at least one that deserves a hearing.

Vandalism, on the other hand, just means you're a worthless pissant who will never contribute anything worthwhile to the human race.

Luckily I will be the benevolent dictator before you get a chance to muck up it's good name. Capital punishment will be outlawed. The guilty would be out working at the guys property for free every evening, weekend and holiday until they had paid for the damages twice over. once to replace and once for restitution.
