I am thinking of getting a height adjustable desk that can be used for sitting or standing. I work from home and I've been using a fold up plastic table I bought at WalMart back in 2013 for my desk. I think I'd like the option to stand and work some of the time instead of just sitting.
I'm looking at a 60"x30" work surface. Anyone have fist hand experience using with a stand up desk? I'd like to hear general comments as well as any particular brands to look (or look out) for.
Thanks.
Is your home hiring? It would be great to work someplace that would give you options that make you comfortable while you work.
I forgot to answer your question: I have had a desk that was high enough to stand and work. I liked it. The variety is nice.

No openings at my house. The plus side is I get to use whatever desk I want. The downside is that I have to pay for it.
You may want to consider an old drafting table, they made them that would lift up and down to whatever height you wanted. Some also had drawers built into the base, some even had electric motors to raise and lower the desktop. Hamilton and Mayline were the big names in that industry, check used office furniture stores in your area.
I had a keyboard tray that attached to my desk and allowed me to sit or stand. It pulls out and adjusts through a pretty wide arc. I set an alarm and stood for 10 minutes every hour. I would sometimes also work standing up for 30-60 minutes when doing certain projects. I liked it and I miss it.
I've been trying to convince my workplace to buy me one. The two options I've found that look mist reason le are an adjustable unit from Varitek that sits on top of a normal desk or the powered adjustable desk from ikea. The varidesk is just under $400, the ikea desk is just under $500
Or you could stack some milk crates and a board on your desk.

I have one of these at work. Its really nice and operates well with the weight of he screens on there.
That's the one I've been looking at. Sounds like it works well? How tall are you?

I have one of those as well.
I put two monitors (20" and 24"), my phone, and head set on the upper surface and use the lower for mouse and keyboard, or writing in a notebook.
Because it moves up and toward me when I raise it, I can just push my chair into the desk and stand behind the chair so I don't have the chair in the way if I step back.
I'm about 5'7"-5'8" and there are height settings for both higher and lower than where I put it to stand.
There are other employees that are quite a bit taller than me with the same unit and they seem to have no issues related to the desk height.

At my office we have desks from EnWork that go up and down. We have the manual crank version as it seems most people either sit or stand and leave it there. I sit.
My set up is an Ikea Jerker, can configure any which way you'd like but not adjustable on the fly. No longer available at ikea but craigslist has them, huge following online.
