I have not seen the movie, but plan to.

In partially watching the previews (previews tend to give too much away in my opinion) I am a bit worried the series may be drifting towards a sci-fi action genre rather then the very sci-fi roots of the original.

Loved the first one and can't wait to see this one.

Also, Alice Eve is another reason for me to see it.

I rarely go to theaters. It costs more than watching it at home, the audience is annoying, and the theater owners want me to be disarmed.

I've long held the same opinion (well, other than the disarmed issue), but these days the audience is less intrusive and distruptive than my GF's dog is when I try and watch a movie at home (the audience doesn't typically bark loudly at the surround speakers from my experience), so it's almost worth the extra cost to see a movie in the theater...

Concealed means concealed. Although, in this state private signs do not carry the weight of law.

I still love watching movies at the theater. One tip I've figured out is not go on a weekend. Early weekday show=smaller audience + no kids having a party in row 5.

I used to be able to get out of work early enough to grab a movie and have pretty small crowds. Seems like if there's more then 6 people in the room, someone will be either kicking my seat or opening and eating the loudest potato chips ever. Kills me that people cannot sit quietly for 1 1/2 to 2 hours without annoying the crap out of everyone around them.

The primary benefit of going to a theater is that the screen is much larger and it's more immersive. Not really necessary for some movie, but for others (such as Start Trek) definitely nice.

I have had the habit of going to the movies in the morning for a long time (e.g. saw Blade Runner the day it was released at around 11:00 am), most people do not like to do that. If you go the the first showing of even a recent release on a weekend, you generally end up in a mostly empty theater.

I think a lot of the impact "Senna" had on the audience here (it screened in an "art" cinema, the audience seemed to have a lot of non-racers in it) was just the fact that all the onboard footage was on a screen that big. I certainly know it had an effect on me, and I'd seen a lot of it before--on my 20" screen at home damn near 25 yrs. ago. Even though it was just old TV footage, it was almost pornographic seeing the Monaco GP pole qualifying lap on a screen that big. I actually heard people saying that they'd never realized that "..racing is really like that."

I'm a Trek fan, I want to see it on the big screen, but gotta see how the new job works out first. Hopefully, it'll still be running somewhere after I get my first paycheck.

I've worked 2nd shift for so long that on a day off..the 2pm show is a morning movie.

Um, where? Early screening? Some other country?

I'm bummed because I'll be in Germany when it opens in the US. Maybe I can find a theater showing it in English over there.

Gotta get my Khan on.

No way, See it in German. You can watch in English almost anywhere.

I did that with Batman Begins. I also understand German, so I might be biased.

I thought I heard that a lot of Hollywood movies play in English in Germany. Might be wrong though.

The company I work for got three of the people from the movie and a screening. Oh and it was free:-D

And I live in US.

The one thing some of you are missing is Dolby Atmos. It is up to 128 channels of sound. Including speakers above you. Take it from an audio guy it will be amazing!

I am I the only one who doesn't like the new Treks? I hate the whole "reboot" idea. TOS was cannon! it was holy writ! how can you "reimagine" it?

that and I hate Chris Pine as Kirk. Spock is okay but the new Kirk sucks.

It's not a reboot per say, it's an alternate reality! A true Trekkie would completely understand.
