So? Some of us might be calling in sick that day.
Looks good to me. I've absolutely loved almost everything else JJ Abrams has done so I can't wait to see what he does with Star Wars. Let's face it, there's nowhere to go but up after the "remasters" of the original trilogy and the godawful prequels.
Pardon me, but I find it laughable that a few tiny clips of video can get a bunch of space nerds all excited. That teaser shows absolutely nothing that will determine if the new movie will be good or just another Phantom Menace.

You are just not a nerd enough.
The one thing it does show is that the approach to the cinematography will capture the original, and not run down the CG rabbit hole.
With modern technology, it's actually harder than you think. The original (episode 4) was completely rendered without CG. It was all done with modeling.
The reason the "prequels" and remasters looked bad was all the CG work. Star Wars now nearly 40 years old. There have been a lot of technological changes. The technology wasn't good enough to capture the right feel.
It appears now that they've got it.
did anybody else notice the subtle change to the Falcon? In the first three movies it had a round antenna.. in this one it is square
Mark Hamill, now, is the same age that Alec Guiness was in Ep. IV.

Werd.

Many years have passsed in the story. Do you think Han wouldn't have made a few mods along the way?

Damn, you beat me to it.

It looks gimmicky. I mean, I know, it's a lazer sword. Kind of the definition of gimmicky. But it just looks a bit silly. Otherwise I really like what I saw in that trailer.
Ok, I know Lucas sold the franchise to the mouse, but the Disney logo at the beginning still threw me off.
Who else thought this when it first started? (Or thought it was another fake) ...I'm still there opening weekend & I never do that.
We all know that Mark Hamill, et. al, are back for this film, but have they announced their roles? What if Hamill, for example, is now playing the older Han Solo?
I find the nerd rage surrounding the crossbar lightsaber to be funny. An impractical weapon? In MY Star Wars? It's more likely than you think.
The X-wing and Falcon dogfight scenes were badass. I read somewhere that Lucasfilm is using a mix of practical effects (i.e. models) and CGI this time around to better replicate the feel of the original trilogy's effects. I also like that they're going with the "used future" aesthetic of the original series. As for the story? We'll see, but the prequel trilogy set a pretty low bar for the new trilogy to clear...
A bit off topic, but- I saw a jabba action figure the other day. Action should be taken figuratively, because really..... What kind of action is there in a giant space booger?
