So, our politicians couldn't play nice, so they all took their respective balls and went home, and now our government is shut down. Minor annoyance- I can't buy/register any more cars or get current tabs. No big deal, next one isn't due until August. However, it's having some unintended effects- such as Miller/Coors having to possibly pull their beer off MN shelves....

Additionally, some bar owners are rapidly coming upon needing to renew their liscenses to purchase liquor for local distribution- and they can't- so bars might start running out of hooch around here. ALSO, 1 day festivals and things like catering services that need short term liscenses to serve/buy/sell booze, can't get em either.

Honestly, I find it kind of funny. I don't drink, so it really doesn't affect me, but they've gone and accidentally created a dry state! Guess it's time to go into the bootlegging business. 'Sconnie is only about 30min from my front door, and I can hide a lot of hooch in a blacked out ms3......

My job got axed as of July 1st in the last round of federal cuts (in typical "cost saving" methods by any large bureaucracy be it corporation or government, the work will continue to be done by outside contractors, likely at 3-4x the cost).

Bonus (and why this is relevant here): My wife works for the MN DNR. So now she has no income as well as of July 1.

At least until Wisconsin guts the small breweries and brewpubs. Really not worth bootlegging Old Milwaukee and Bud Light.

As long as they get settled in time for the NFL season it won't matter.

If they don't, then it's going to get real ugly, real fast...

If NASCAR came from bootleggers..I don't know why it's an oval track series (actually, I do, but I just like saying that to my buddies that like NASCAR ).

I don't see what the trouble is. The people who would write the infraction wouldn't be around either. Or did they not let the tax generators go?

I wonder how many people have bootleggers in the family?

As for MN? What's more fascinating is outside of the booze angle, it's not a story in the Mainstream Mediaa.

Leinies is owned by Miller. Really, it's SAB-Miller (headquartered out of South Africa).

I intentionally avoided limiting it to WI breweries, as even if the small guys are gutted, the stuff from out of state will still be available.

See what happens when you beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl? We tried to warn you. Beer first, then we take away your cheese.

That was LITERALLY the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the story on the news yesterday.

As far as Miller/Coors- You'd be surprised at HOW many people around here are into the ol' Silver Bullet. I could probably make money doing it, if I really chose to.

Plenty of tax generators.... they didn't let essential services go. So- I can still go to jail. Not entirely sure I can see a judge though.

Everyone seems to like Coors Light. Even my wife drinks it if she doesn't want a beer.

They made an awesome app....err program for downloading/uploading GPS info from Garmin handhelds, called MNDNR Garmin.

But because the state is closed, the website is down, and none of you can download it to find out how awesome it is!

I don't understand what your are trying to say? There is no problem with the beer sales or brewing of beer in Wisconsin.

I like New Glarus' Spotted Cow and Central Waters Brewing Mud Puppy Porter.

I have a question: How much does the rest of the nation pay for 1.75 liter bottle of cheap booze like vodka?

mndsm

1.75? Depends on the label. Can be as cheap as 20$... can be 60$.
