Rental boat this week, first time I've run a boat without either No-feedback or hydraulic steering. This is one method for maintaining a straight course.

You need to go old school and lash the wheel to maintain the desired heading . Seriously, Maybe a bungee or two would help take some of the force yet still allow maneuvers

There is a trim tab on the lower unit that is supposed to be adjusted to counter torque steer at speed. Since it’s a rental boat I bet someone either broke it off or it was never set up correctly.

Or the trim was misadjusted.  I can practically steer my boat by trimming the outboard up and down
