I just saw the Fox Sports announcement that Steve Byrnes lost his battle with cancer today. I didn't realize that he was ill until fairly recently. It seems it took him quickly.

Wow, I had no idea he was that far along. I only just heard that he was sick. RIP.

Apparently he had the cancer well over a year ago, went into remission , and then showed up again in October as stage four.
The NASCAR race last weekend title sponsor was Stand Up 2 Cancer in Support of Steve Byrnes. They showed a photo of him and he looked really bad. Sad...
I saw the pics, and saw the attention, and I thought, "There's a dead man."
Too bad. I hope his kid ends up ok...I know how hard it can be losing a father too soon.
I haven't been watching NASCAR that past couple of years very much and didn't even know he was sick. Sorry to hear this.
