Does anyone want to come help me clear it out? The main thing in it is a Southbend Lathe and a bunch of tools and such. From what I can find the lathe around 550-600lbs, but it is awkward and the door is about 40" wide. I'm thinking that I might be able to get it out with an engine lift and a couple furniture dollies?
I definitely need a trailer in order to get it out.
It is in Inverness, Fl. Anyone want to help? I'll buy the beer and pizza?

In reply to Mr_Asa :
Use the hoist to lift it up enough to get a few pieces of iron pipe under it & use them as rollers. If you can get a trailer right up to the doorway & have a winch you should be able to get it up on the trailer the same way - provided the angle isn't too steep.
Big top heavy stuff is not to be underestimated. I recommend a skid or sled be built either out of 4X4s (4X6s?), to extend the footprint in all directions, and strap it to it like your life depends on it (it does).Steel plate or I beams would be even better, maybe bolt it down. You are definitely going to need help. Is it time to call in the professionals? I'm too far away to help. No matter what you do, go slow, and be safe.
Take the motor and first motion shaft assembly off, slide the tail stock off, and unscrew the chuck. Then unbolt it from the bench. Two guys can then easily lift and carry it. I restored one of these South Bends a few years ago. It is easy to disassemble that far. Treat it gently, the bed is big, but fragile too. They are great lathes.
Sorry just saw this. I'll appears I'll be free after next Tuesday if you're cool with an exact 2 week quarantine.

In reply to Stampie :
We are still figuring out what we might be able to do. I might take you up on that, though.
In reply to Mr_Asa :
Please do. I'm so itching to get the berk out of this house. I think you have my number if you want to call or text.

I do, yes. Let me talk to Dad. He is talking about just buying a utility trailer to load it into and taking it to my place.
In reply to Mr_Asa :
I'd offer one of mine but they are all full or inop.

And with a big ole thank you to the Stamp-meister, the lathe is in the trailer and now the trailer is at home.
I'm berking tired

It was fun and not anywhere as bad as I thought it would be. I always like a little adventure. Thanks for the motor and other things.
