Stranger Things

If you have Netflix and like Sci-Fi, you have to check out this show. I absolutely dig it. Lots of Car Porn being that it's set back in 1986. They did a great job with filming locations and vehicle choices. I also really like the soundtrack.

Not the first recommendation I've seen, and all have been for different reasons. Consider me intrigued. Adding to the queue.

Watched two episodes tonight, I dig it. They did a great job with the casting. Lots of suspense and loud noises at appropriately scary moments.

Just finished it and it was great from beginning to end. Best to label this as a mini series and not a regular series, only 8 episodes.

It has a kind of X-files and Twin Peaks vibe.

I watched a few episodes and it is triggering some serious nostalgia, since I was about the same age as the main characters. They nailed the music, costumes, settings and cars.

I was thinking x-files meets ET. It is great and it had me loading a bunch of great of tunes on the youtube playlist.

It's in my watch list but I've been binge watching Roadkill so I haven't started it yet.

Started watching this last night. Got two episodes in and I had to go to bed, because if I didn't, I'd be up all night watching the whole series! Pure 80's awesomeness. Take E.T., The Goonies, a few 80's slasher flicks, and make John Carpenter direct it and you have this show. Awesome homage to the period.

Its good but one thing is killing me. The kids bikes. No bmx had that sort of geometry and ran micro drives in 1983.

Lol, I said the same thing to my wife during the first episode!

This is why I hate and love Netflix. They can put out really cool shows like this, but then I binge watch and am through with it way too fast, I kinda wish they would release their content on a weekly bases, because I have no self control.

Yeah the bike thing was bothering me also. The only thing I can think, is these kids are too busy spending money on walkie talkies and D&D to afford newer BMX bikes, and they ride their dads old bikes.

Just finished this series up last night. I loved it all the way to the end. I hope they bring it back for another season.

I watched the first episode w/ SWMBO Monday night. Last night was Track Night in America. Tonight I binge as many as I can...

...and now on #5. So many details, even if I would have been 15/16 in 1983. Atari 2600 check. Star Wars models check. Even the Casio Databank watch...

Just finished the series tonight. Loved it, excellent character development. Eleven has a good acting career ahead of her me thinks. The whole cast was well suited for their roles. The theme song reminded me of Pink Floyd's Welcome To The Machine in a weird way, so we played the them both at the same time and it works surprisingly well together.

After seeing this thread about a week ago I decided to give it a go. I'm half way through episode 3 and it's awesome so far, but I'm really trying to pace myself

PS The car porn in the background is second to none. Love it

I haven't finished watching the series just yet, but for those of you that have, they make a lot of shot references to 70's and 80's movies, too. I haven't watched this yet because I don't want any spoilers, but there's a side by side comparison of the movies they've referenced.

I'm digging the series, so far. I finished episode 5 last night and am wondering how season two will continue the story. Apparently, Netflix has agreed to another season.

I may try this after I finish Narcos. On one hand, it sounds intriguing, on the other hand, I have no desire to be force fed more 80's nostalgia.

I haven't taken it as being force fed. The series is set in 1985 and they seem very (except for the BMX bikes above) particular in getting it correct. Honestly, I'm more into the story than the settings and haven't noticed it quite as much as others, apparently. I think people are just impressed at how accurate the little details are and how you could probably have released it in 1985 and nothing in the film look odd to someone viewing it then.

They were about two decades too new. Even dude with a banana seat....that was modern geometry.

So, Baroness is wondering if anyone else thinks it's weird that everyone can tell that Eleven is a girl.

I've watched two episodes, so far it's good. Various descriptions above are all great.

My wife's co-worker says this was filmed in his suburban Atlanta neighborhood.

I made it a little into the second episode. What I saw was very good, but it just didn't hold my interest.
