This past summer I fixed a bunch of major rust holes on the e36 and gave it a fresh coat of paint. PO had done some rear fender repairs that I didn't re-work. Just noticed his work isn't holding up so well - there's a little orange starting to appear above the bumper. My bad for not fixing his bondoness' - or time to head for Atlanta and get a better car. Did I mention I hate Illinois salt.

Salt is evil.

In reply to oldtin:

They must lay salt on your side of the state like they do mine.

If there is 0.279 of an inch of powder on the street, they dump salt like they're making a gravel road.

I lived in Michigan. I hated salt and the resulting rusty cars so much, I moved to the desert.

Salt blows. I call it "white death"

I've had ABS intervene because I was slipping on the road salt! I've thought about moving out of state for that reason.
I have sold too many cars that had life left in them (plenty) because they were rotting away.
