When you post on CL, are you supposed to be able to see your ad? I've had 3 or 4 ads in the last week, under different headings, and only 1 was "visible" to me. I suspect that 2 were somehow almost immediately flagged...but even for that doesn't CL send you a notice?

You should be able to. What were you trying to sell and I'll search.

For 1 thing, or should I say 2 things, I posted "ads" warning folks in Gainesville, Fl. and Jacksonville, Fl that Rush Motors is a scam. They have several ads on CL all over Florida for late model cars that can be had for under $3,000. Incredibly, folks still think there is a '05 Camry that can be bought for $2985. I know this because some doofus has posted ads telling other folks that the dealer selling the bargain Camrys, Accords, Altimas, whatever....doesn't have a location and can't be found. DUHHH!!!!

And if your ad is "pulled" on CL, do you get any notice or do you have to find out on your own?

Those may have been blocked by CL. I know that stuff gets flagged down fast. If someone wants to be scammed, let them. I'll flag the scam posts (easy peasy with craigslist notification on my phone), but they're usually gone within a few minutes of posting.

I had some issues with the adds just never getting posted... after some troubleshooting on the forum it seems cut and paste from word = bad code and it doesn't take some times...

Normally I just flag the obvious, and even the not so obvious ads and let the doofuses (doofi?) reply at their own peril. But I occasionally get ticked at scammers who "clog up" CL with their ads that are placed in several cities and with prices that a NORMAL person should realize instantly are a joke. Like an '05 Maxima with 55K miles for less than $2900.

I also accused someone under the pet section of trying to run a pet rescue as a means to make a living. I heard from that person REAL fast, so that ad was up long enough to at least make a point.

It just bugs me that you can't get a bogus car dealer tossed as fast as CL can toss me for warning others about the bogus dealer.

I have had where I cannot see my own add from my computer, but was totally viewable from other computers. It happens to me most often actually. Running FF on Ubuntu.

So your solution to other people clogging it up with bogus ads is to... clog it up with bogus ads.

And further, you're complaining that bogus ads don't get zapped and at the same time complaining that bogus ads (yours) did get zapped?

I'm utterly failing to see your side of this. Flag the damn things and move on.

I agree with keethrax.

I would also add that your "ad" was obviously NOT an ad, since you were not selling anything. Perhaps it was a "public service announcement".

However, it seems to me that this type of response gets dangerously close to libel and/ or slander. Certainly defamation of character (depending on the exact wording). I doubt "Rush Motors" is a scam. Perhaps one of their ads was, but unlikely the whole company.

Probably why it got pulled from CL.

To that extent, it is potentially inappropriate on GRM as well.

Flag the ad. No more.

I just ran my Uncle Chucky's Basic Scam Search on G'ville CL. Parameters are- 2500 to 3500 price. Real pretty ad. No phone number, just e-mail. BS low price. No Rush Motors, only two ads, flagged them. It's a waste of time, but entertaining.

You'll need to log in to post.
