We live very near a floodplain, therefore, our sump pump runs damn near constantly. That's not much of a problem for us, but what's annoying is the constant stream of water coming into the crock. I have an idea of raising the pump to just above the inlet pipe (about a foot deep in the crock), so the incoming water won't slpash into the crock.

Will this be a risky idea?
