This morning, I completely emptied the tank, reset the pressure and refilled it. Everything seems to be operating normally, but I suspect I'm just buying time. This will give me a chance to find the best replacement, though. The tank I have is generally considered to be a particularly E36 M3ty one.
Thanks for the help.
when I was dealing with mine, I drained the tank then added air with the drain open. Air came blasting out the water drain! Now that's a bad tank....
I've seen pressure issues when the air is set wrong. "re-booting" it like you did may fix it. Keep an eye on it and if it doesn't act up again, I wouldn't worry about it.

Three things I can think of:
The diaphragm in your pressure tank is shot.
This ^^^. Or... its possible the schrader valve (tire stem) on the tank is leaking and you have no air pressure in the bladder.
I didn't say that I was the one who had made such considerations...
Lowes depot is not the only choice, plumbing supply houses may have a more robust unit in stock?
Woody - bumping this back up. How did this turn out? Did you replace the tank & how difficult is it to do?
Fingers crossed... It's been holding pressure and working fine. It may have been leaking down at the schraeder valve or something. I took it apart and cleaned it and oiled it. So far, so good.
Lucky. I pumped mine up back on Feb 1st, and again today. I'm going to need a replacement for sure.
Thanks for the update!
Nearly six months later and still working.
I hate you. I pumped mine up for the third time two weeks ago. I need to stop procrastinating on this project...
