Reading the weights on the latest super cars, the Hurrican in being lauded for being only 3,100 pounds. My old Dodge Intrepid R/T, a boat of a car, weighed in at 3,400. Using that as a benchmark, I am often surprised at how heavy cars are, and how relatively light my Dodge was.
Anyone else have a car that should be light, but was a tank? Or seemed like it would be heavy, but was actually pretty light? The Jeep YJ Cherokee came up here recently for example
Fieros weigh quite a bit for such a small car.
Mitsubishi 3000gt, 3,760lbs

350Z is up around 3400lbs
Genesis Coupe 3600 lbs with V6.
How?
Gen3 Supra...can weigh 3700~4100lbs depending on options
They're simply built like tanks first of all, then they have a lot of glass, and then the seats in particular are insanely heavy.
ND Miata, 2200~2400lbs depending on model. For a 2015 car with no CF in it, that's light as a fart.
2005 Phaeton I had for a while, weighed over 5,000 lbs.

That's about as much as the Suburban which is approximately twice as big. Near as I can figure the Germans carved the whole care out of a single chunk of steel. So very heavy.

old Corolla.... under 2200#s

Beat me to it. Can't believe how heavy those hogs are.
My 95 Caprice weighed in at 4,090lbs. That used to be a big, heavy car.

The Volvo 745 weighs a hair under 3100 lbs. Its tow capacity is rated at 3000 lbs.

R170 SLK was a big for its dimensions. 3,000+ and roughly the same size as an NB Miata.
my 1990 750iL challenge car is about 4200 lbs. Actually surprisingly light (to me), considering the size, the v12, and the volume of leather/wood/wire/electric motors inside.
This little thing was 3600 lbs.

Mercedes Benz 500 SEL - W126 (actually should be V126 for the long wheelbase)
Feels like its carved out solid granite ... weighs in at 3500lbs.
New Audi TT is as light as 2700lbs.
the heavy tank Volvo 240 is actually between 2800-3230lb depending on year, body (wagon, sedan, 2 door) and equipment and options.

A low content late 60s Cutlass is surprisingly light. Not too much more than 3000lb, iron V8 and all. Pretty sure it's the lightest of the A-bodies.
Land Rover Freelander: 3900~4300lbs...of course if you know how Land Rover builds things, it's not that much of a surprise.

Whoa I almost want one now...OMG am I turning into a douche!? My collar's still folded down, and I'm not wearing designer sunglasses, but I'm gonna keep an eye on it
Look at the curb weights of most any fullsize American car from the late 1950s or early 1960s; considering how big they were they didn't weigh that much. While their bodies were big, there was a lot of empty space inside that wasn't filled with crash protection, rustproofing, sound deadening or electrical gizmos.

Mind you thats the base 270hp front drive TT, not the AWD 310hp version. It'll still be a sprightly car though.
310hp AWD version? Which one is that? I just went to the web site, the TTS is only 265hp?
