As a follow up to this thread from a while back:

http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/off-topic-discussion/swingsets-playscapes/36597/page1/

I decided that I couldn't stand the thought of paying big bucks for one of the "Amish built" playscapes that are sold at every shed place around here. The price was too high and the quality was too low.

I found a kit online that included the swings and hardware plus the top A frame brackets for the main swingset for $260 shipped. You have to supply all the wood. The "Fort", as my three year old calls it, was my design. All of the wood is cedar, which was sourced from a local millwork place. The slide, handles, copper post caps, Trex and the climbing wall came from Lowes.

My daughter and I are both pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Here is mine & the neighbors (they are connected by a bridge over the fence)

Less than $500 combined between the two. All wood was free from craigslist, freecycle and dumpster diving. slabwood from F.I.L's sawmill, shingles left over from house, etc. we bought nails, concrete and beer.

You can't see the winding staircase & slide #2 on the other side.

certainly a LOT nicer than the metal I had as a kid that rotted out in a year and taken down because it was unsafe
