She Who Probably Needs To Be Ignored has a MBA in finance and is frequently courted by major companies near and far. She has an awesome gig right now and is happy but we are in Battle Creek, MI and well... it's Battle Creek for crying out loud.

She has a "+++ a lot more money" offer from a company that she likes but it would require relocation to Warsaw, IN. She is currently mulling the idea, does anyone have any experience with the area? I am an automotive service professional with GM, Nissan and VW experience, is it going to be impossible to find a job there? Car culture? Autocross? Community of snake charmers? Should I be afraid?

Oh great keepers of knowledge, spew forth your opinions!

From what i've been told Indy has a lot of meth and two spices, salt AND pepper. And Ben and Bobzilla and others live there.

Warsaw isn't awful, but you'd be better off residing in the Wabash area. Rule #1 is to stay as far away from south bend/Elkhart/Goshen.

Otherwise, you'd be in an area between the "Active but can't design a course to save their life" South Bend Region scca, and the very very good Ft Wayne region. For other recreation requests, Ft. Wayne is pretty decent. They have about every type oof gathering you'd expect. There are dealerships in all of those areas so finding something you are familiar with probably won't be too hard.

I'm about 1.5hrs south of Warsaw, and go through there all the time when I go visit family in Richland, MI.
also, the rural areas around Warsaw have a large population of Amish, I discovered that when I was detoured on the way back from tire rack.......its funny to be driving a supercharged Saturn down carriage paths that the GPS claims are roads......and all the Amish fathers quickly ushering their daughters inside.

There is also 2 GM plants(Fisher Body and the truck plant) within 45min of Warsaw as well(if you happened to not find any dealers hiring)

Ft Wayne SCCA website

http://www.fwscca.com/

The surrounding area has some great car stuff, Auburn has the 2 annual auctions, Auburn, Cord, Duesenburg Museum and more.

Some very very good restaurants like, Chops Wine bar and Baker Street. Eddie Merlots is well known but I am not a fan.

Several micro breweries including Mad Anthonys.

You would be able to join the active Ohio GRM meets as well

If classic cars happened to be one of Johns interests, you'd be decently close to the James Dean festivities of Gas City and Fairmount. Its pretty cool to see nothing but vintage stuff and semis on I-69 during the end of September.
