Yeah, I know. The thing is, I was looking for a people hauler, not a sports car, since I already have that covered. I just expected better from the Subie.
So now I'm happy in a Mazda MPV-ES, which outperforms the Outback in every way.
One of these days, I'd like to drive a Subaru with forced induction since I hear a lot of people saying nice things about them. Unfortunately, until I do, I will think of Subaru's as very quirky, unappealing cars.

I'm not a fan either. Everybody I know that has owned a Subaru is driving something else now. The only exception being the rally guys, but even a number of them told me, the cars are awesome (for rally), but they're falling apart before my eyes.
wow, mpv to a legacy outback. minivan to small car-based suv. Talk about apples to oranges. ;p
and i have 140k on my wrx, seems to be holding up fine...

Calling the Outback an SUV is a bit of a stretch. More of a wagon, and in that regard, not so different from a small minivan.
Sure, I made a bad choice in buying the Outback, but based on what I'd heard about Subaru, I wasn't prepared to be THAT disappointed.
I'll shut up now, and let us get back on topic.
I'll just leave these here....
